Early reviews mark Pokemon Pokopia as one of the best games in the series

The embargo for Pokemon Pokopia reviews has was lifted earlier today, and boy are those reviews ever positive. Coming in with an average score of 89 on Metacritic and 88 on OpenCritic, the game is set to be one of the highest-rated titles in the Pokemon series to date. It should be noted that these reviews naturally only include those written by outlets with early access to the game, but is a strong indicator that we have a fantastic game on the way.

Being developed by both Koei Tecmo and Game Freak, Pokopia appears to take a good bit of inspiration from the Dragon Quest Builders series, blending it together with the bright atmosphere and familiar faces of the Pokemon franchise. I'd love to give you more information than that, but wanting to keep the game fresh for myself, I've personally skipped the reviews and early footage. Anybody on the fence can expect a review from us around a week after the game launches, but know it's one I've been looking forward to since it was originally announced.

I don't remember talking to you or insulting you personally.
Your continuous and relentless hatred over anything that has to do with Nintendo, even the names, is getting annoying. I sincerely can't take this anymore.

(I mean, you even complained about this very website's name!)

Those are impressive early scores. If Pokopia is really blending Pokémon’s charm with builder-style gameplay successfully, it could end up being one of the most refreshing entries in the series in years. Definitely looking promising so far.

And yet you insist on being here, anyway, despite how frequently you voice your dislike for being here (and dislike for Nintendo in general). When even the guy who hates Pokemon unconditionally is calling you out on it, I think it's best to take that as a sign.

P.S. It's funny how you're editing your previous messages to remove everything. As if it wasn't possible to just search for people's replies to you to see what you said.
He not only removed his PFP but is actively trying to scrub his own post history by editing the contents out. a pokemon spin off made by the people behind and being built after Dragon Quest Builders 2 is making him rage quit and DFE in real time, neglecting the many archive sites that has passed through the site over the years.

those titles remain the best selling pokemon games in japan

perhaps we do not understand what japanese people like in games
We definitely don't, judging by the huge difference in tone and pacing in games made for Japan vs the West. We know for example that we like games to be challenging, and they prefer games to be easy and directive practically to the point of playing themselves.

In the case of Pokemon S/V, since the games have no redeeming qualities that I can detect, I don't know what we could learn from this discrepency. I don't think they're the best-selling Pokemon games because of any change in the opinion of Pokemon. I think people in general and Japanese people most of all have a much greater need for unchallenging entertainment in 2023 vs 1998.

They keep making these games for people who have never played a single Pokemon game. That's absurd in itself. What I truly can't stand is that there's more tutorialization than even the very first game, when NO ONE had played one before.

If players are a reflection of what developers think of them, Pokemon players must have a 50 IQ with a muscle condition that prevents them from pushing more than 6 buttons per minute. I've never seen such a fall off in any company's estimations of its target consumers in my life than I've seen from Pokemon Black 2/White 2 to now.

Well thanks but I rate this higher:

I was gonna write up a post for that, but I wouldn't have been able to link to their GitHub since they seem to have pre-patched ROMs for some stupid reason. Seemed too much of a pain to say "there's this cool hack but go find it yourself". It does look solid though.

Wow that is indeed stupid on his part

Even romhacking.net just links to his GitHub with its copyright/piracy issues

Oh lol, they didn't have with earlier releases (only the patches iirc). However since it's based on the decomp project, you were able to compile a fully functional rom out of the source code without providing a base rom of PKMN Red anyway. And they did get away with this (as many other Gen 1 hacks based on the decomp as well).
I'm still curious on how the legal situation is because decomp or not, you're generating/compiling a rom that contains copyrighted assets, even if they are decompiled bits and bytes from the original.

So tl;dr: Yes, you're probably better off not linking to their GitHub.

Edit: Calling it "solid" is still an understatement though imho. PureRGB and Shin Pokémon Red/Blue/Green are probably the best Gen 1 Kanto hacks in existance only rivaled by the recently updated Pokémon Brown (but that plays in a new region).

Yeah I got through writing the entire post and when I was looking at the releases page I was really quite annoyed to see this was the only version they added them for lol. Probably not the worst in the grand scheme of things, people seem to get riled up when I post too much Pokemon stuff... And I feel like I've been posting a lot of Pokemon stuff this week.......

One option would be providing the bps patch links from the GBAtemp download page

Uploading those here *shrug*

Well, it's the biggest franchise in the world. So I think it's fine. It's like telling a tech news site not to write about Apple stuff too often. :D
