I'm sorry if this has already been answered somewhere, but I've searched around a lot and can't find an answer.

I have installed some NTSC Virtual Console games on my PAL Wii (I don't want to play the PAL versions at 50hz) and they all run slowly with slowed sound, except for Super Mario 64 which runs perfectly for some reason. Is there any way to force them to run at Pal60? I have tried using USB Loader GX and it makes the display flicker and distort madly.

Switching my Wii's video output to NTSC isn't a viable option because I have a PAL TV.

I haven’t experimented much with VC but based on my own recent experience with disc -based and wiiware games, I’d suggest either Video Mode Region Patch or Force PAL60 and DOL video patch All.

Most of my games (NTSC) work on one of those two video modes on my PAL wii via scart. A smaller number require the DOL patch, which I understand adds video modes to those games that weren’t programmed to include the full set of options.

I’d be interested to hear how you get on.

If I use Video Mode Region Patch, it just launches the game at 50hz, meaning it runs with -10% speed (regardless of whether I use DOL patch all or not).

If I use Force PAL60 and DOL patch all, the display goes absolutely wild, almost as if my composite video cable was loose. Definitely an epilepsy triggerer.

The game I'm trying to use is Sonic 3.

You could take a systematic approach to work out what combination works. I did this to get my games working. A 3-way table for each combination. But there’s no guarantee you’ll find a working solution.

If it’s Mega Drive games you’re wanting to play, why not just use Genplus? It will give you far more control/options and none of the incompatibility. I’ve installed a bunch and you can pick your poison (in my case unfiltered 240p in all its glory!)
