Paydaaaaaaaay! Picked up a 2TB SSD to throw into an external closure and store some roaming Steam games. Also got an L shaped HDMI adapter to make it easier to move between Mini PCs for various testing things without having a cable sticking out horizontally!

Absolutely love the tower of mini PCs there.

recently found a good deal on a OnePlus 6T myself. Going to play around with PostmarketOS :3

ITA screen spec matches the lower screen from a DSi (256x192 resolution). Installed in a GBA, the center 240x160 pixels are used for a proper GBA display. IPS screens have a higher resolution and while they look great, you lose the authentic "pixel grid" look. IPS looks more like playing GBA on an emulator on a PC, and if I wanted that Id just do that.

One caveat though: out of the box the ITA will likely have some flicker, but there is a pot on the GBA mobo intended for fine-tuning voltage to the display. There's a display test rom (the "Aging" rom) that has a routine specifically for this adjustment. 5 seconds with a tiny screwdriver and no more flicker.

Either way laminated is the way to go. Screen is sealed to the glass so no lint specs, hair, etc under the glass and I wouldn't say they're "scratch proof" but almost scratch proof yeah. One more FYI: when using a Funnyplaying laminated screen, IPS or ITA, you also need to use a specific shell type that has a display cutout area that matches precisely to the bevel on the screen glass. Limits the wildass customizations you can do, but for that screen it's a no-brainer tradeoff IMHO.

GBA w/ laminated ITA I built for Christmas.

A way, way overdue game changer for me since I absolutely hate how huge all standard Switch controllers are for absolutely no good reason.

Pre-ordered Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance for ps5. Also, I pre-ordered more tarantulas for pick up at the expo in 2 weeks. Ordered 3 8x8x8 enclosures for them on Amazon and a 128gb lexar micro sd for my soldering micro scope. Also ordered a 35"x16" Gundam mouse mat. I'm not sure if I'll use it, but worst-case, I'll give it to my nephew cause he's been getting into gundams as well.

Identify that runt controller, please.

As for standard Switch controllers being "huge," I guess it's all relative. Ever try the 1st gen Saturn or Xbox (Duke) controllers?

I can't even tell if the controller is that tiny or if you have the hands of a giant.

Power A Nano enhanced controller, so IT is just that smol. Vertically, it's just a mm or so shorter than a joycon. It's lighter too despite technically having all the same guts from the normal sized one, which is also important as hell if you're gonna sit with it for an entire day or travel.

Got some stuff today, starting with a music album for the Atari Jaguar. I just need a Jaguar to actually play the damn thing. At least I have the digital album so I can listen to it that way.
IMG_20240402_134946642.jpg

Then I got a bunch of high quality cables to fix up some of the cheap amazon trash around my entertainment system. Largely with the goal of making the cable runs shorter to keep signal degradation to a minimum.
IMG_20240402_154840471.jpg

And last but not least a regular NN3DS so I can have a slightly more pocketable one than my NN3DSXL.

No scratches on either display, and I'm pretty sure double TN, but that's fine I'll take the increase in battery life. The games are likely all going to get sold, though, they just came with the thing.

Edit: NVM, 3DSident says it's a dual IPS. Neat

Well I just bought 2 more GBA's for laminated ITA screen mods. I know most of you will think I overpaid, but I bought them from "Amazon Renewed", i.e. refurb'd. Maybe $20 each more than I'd pay on ebay, but they're rated "excellent" condition, guaranteed to work, and an easy return/refund if they don't.

It won't be as pocketable of course, but this grip works great for the regular NN3DS.

Needed new glasses and my work has coupons for Kits.com/.ca so I ordered 2 cheap pairs with the best lenses they have for a total of $52 shipped. Are they the best, probably not, but they will be fine for when I'm working.

honestly, I'm really looking forward to these. The N100 isn't a powerful CPU, but it was at least usable when it was in the Geekom PC I tried with it... just wonder whether it'll have enough juice in a tiny laptop... and the other system has a freaking 7 inch screen built into the bottom half???

Crelander honestly confuse me a lot. Seems like their PCs are all ripping off some big name but using weaker CPUs and cheaper parts. Having said that, I've seen nothing like the one with the 7 inch touch screen, so we'll see what happens with that one lol

Electric super scooter. I hit about 55-58mph on it. Going down the hill by my house I got up to 63mph on it. It’s pretty wild going that fast standing up with feet 6-8” from the ground. It’s very peaceful at night in complete silence only feeling and hearing the wind flowing by. I close my eyes sometimes and pretend I’m flying 😬

Ok guys, I will be the first to tell you that what I am about to show you is not "new". I've had if for quite a while, but I figured you would like to see these pics as I don't know if anyone has seen one of these before. I originally had posted these pics in the "Who The Hell Are You" thread, but I soon realized this this was not the optimal place for these images. I know that Hippy Dave saw them and gave me a like, but I took them down and I'll post them here in this thread. Finally, the reason I am posting these images is because:

1) Most of you have never SEEN one of these before as it is custom, and moreso:

2) I am willing to bet that most of the following content are something you've never even HEARD OF BEFORE. There is no need to explain these images to you, you can see for yourself. And even if you're not into this kind of thing, just consider it a work of... "art".

Oh by the way, this custom board measures 18" in width and 12" in depth... I will show you a comparison between this custom board and a store-bought unit. This is made entirely 1/4" glass. And oddly enough, the board captures light - not from the top, or any angle from the top. The board "absorbs" light FROM THE SIDES OF THE GLASS, WHICH IS HOW THE CANDLES ILLUMINATE THIS THING...

This fucker is BIG.

Got some plates for the NN3DS.
IMG_20240404_140516701.jpg

However the silver screws look stupid so I swapped them out for the black ones of the original plates.
IMG_20240404_145605664.jpg

Weird how it's suddenly much better.

I mean, that's just how physics works, specifically how light refracts when it goes from a medium with a lower refractive index (like air) into one with a higher refractive index (like glass). Still that's one of the fun things about etched glass, it allows for some really cool effects by picking on which side the etching is, or even in which depth it is and how you illuminate the thing.
You should try having some more candles with differently colored flames, that should help make it look even fancier.
