Hm. Is the gameplay copyrighted? Cause if it's not making something which plays the same but doesn't have the Mushroom Kingdom in it shouldn't be worthy a lawsuit, would it. After all it's the game and not the characters that's so good about it, right, right?

Why dont someone make a homebrew game instead?

The last SMB homebrew project was issues a Cease and Desist letter from Nintendo.

What are the concequenses if continued? I'd just give them a Cease and FUverymuch letter back...
And continue my project...

A subpoena and probably the loss of anywhere from 100,000 to 500,000 US for Copyright Infringements and Business Infringements. Other than that, if you can ignore it, nothing. Well, they could also look into Violation of Terms of Service with that Flash Cart of yours as well, but who's counting?

So what about Super Smash Flash (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/333995) did they get any letters? This game even has Master hand in it!

This same Guy is making Super Smash Flash 2 and it has those Super Smash Balls from Brawl in the game.
So if Nintendo lets this guy make flash versions of their game, why not a homebrew DS version too?

YES someone do this! although it wouldn't be the same without some of the same characters...

How do you know that? We've never had Smash Brothers on a handheld so you can't say if it would work or not. I think you'll find that fighters are quite good choices for handheld games. Add multiplayer Wifi and I'm sold. I have to admit that Nintendo is rather stupid for not putting this game on DS. Either they don't have a clue about how good of a game it could be, or they don't care and wipe their asses with million dollar bills (the more likely). It wouldn't be to hard to do either. Outstanding though the SSB series is, it's not that complicated of a game. It's not like the next-gen Mario game or Final Fantasy that has to stay in development for years and get reworked and tweaked. Still, there's Bleach. Has anyone tried Bleach? Does it have similar gameplay to SSB?

We can still hope for this under a different company. Nintendo hired Camelot (Golden Sun developers) to make the GBA Mario Tennis and Golf games. Maybe they'll get a third party company to publish SSBDS.

1.It's been posted for ages now on every messageboard, the idea of it isn't anything new.....
2.Theres better stuff out there that could be brought to the system......
3.Most people rather use a control stick for fighting games......
4.Better enjoyed on a bigger screen.....

but if smash bros came out on the ds
it would be a lil "crippled" if you know what i mean
like your character would be really small
and if it was zoomed in you wouldnt be able to see much
thats why its prob only been on consoles, cuz of the tv screen is like 20 times bigger
and it'll be a lot of button mashing/hashing

i mean, i dont mind if there was one
but i dont think it'd be as great as we think
..with all the inabilities of the ds and all

Sakurai said he wasn't making one.... He said that on the interview.

This is what needs be put in every SSBONDS topic. Moderators should come in and put in the initial post, if necessary, because this mass wisful thinking is staining this forum...

Just because he isn't going to make it doesn't mean it won't be made.

I don't know enough about the capabilities of the DS vs the demands of a game like SSB so I won't say one way or the other; however, that reason alone isn't enough to say the game absolutely will not come out.

You guys don't know if it's never gonna happen. Who expected SM64 for DS? My point is that DS graphics and buttons can do SSB controls. Look at the level of detail in the 3D characters of NSMB, they could just graphics like that. Also one screen could be zoomed in on your character and the other would be the entire field.
