if they're still doing firmware, predict 10 x 6-18 months. that's how long it takes for a new aacs key to appear. I don't know the specifics though, but the ps3 apparently is how those keys are dumped. this allows bd movies to be decrypted, then dumped, so it's kind of a good thing that they're still releasing updates, I guess.Nice.

Can't a Blu-ray movie just to watch the movie itself work without those keys? On PC you can back it up and access the video files themselves.
I don't know the specifics of how bd works. I don't have a burner nor a player other than gaming systems, and I have 0 bd movies, but afaik, the keys are used to decrypt newer movies, mostly for ripping to mkv or similar.
Installed 4.90 CFW on my PS3 Slim following Mr. Mario's tutorial and it was very easy.
No real plans to actually play backups, if anything, I'll just play my GTA IV disc as it's a game I love going back to.
If only hacking the Xbox 360 was this easy, haha.

I installed all of the Burnout Paradise DLC, but the game is stuck on the loading screen. Do I need to install a DLC fix or something? I thought installing clean PKGs would have been enough.
Even though I have the Ultimate Edition on disc, some of the DLC isn't included (I want to play with the General Lee design from the Dukes of Hazzard).

You need to register the game DLC (and the game) to the sony account you are using. I recommend using Apollo Save Tool.
I looked through the app, but I didn't see the option to register the game and DLC to the account. Where's that specifically, please?

Was it working fine before installing the dlcs?
Do you have the game update installed (if there's any)? Some dlcs won't work if you don't have the game update installed.
Also, not saying that that's the cause of your problem, it could just a corrupt pkg file you installed, or even system file/ hdd corruption (but it'd impact other games too)..
It was working before and yes the update is installed. I'm not using "cracked" PKGs as so I use the ones with the license file.
Does the license have the correct key? Try to decrypt the eboot with scetool.
Iirc, put the rap in raps folder, then the command is scetool -d EBOOT.BIN EBOOT.ELF.

I'm about to purchase PS3 Slim for the first time, model number: CECH-2504B, date code: 1A (I think, I've attached an image so that you can take a look).
Based on what's mentioned here, I believe that this model is CFW compatible?
