Have you tried plugging the drive in after enabling FTP? Not sure why this is happening or if this could help but it's something maybe worth trying.

Just make a backup and replace the harddrive like you would normally. You won't lose CFW.
Installing a new hard drive on CFW is the same as installing a new hard drive on OFW. Turn off your console, remove the hard drive, and insert your new one. If it is a NOR console, your PS3 will prompt you to reinstall the firmware from USB at which point you will follow the normal CFW installation instructions to complete it, ensuring that you install the same CFW that you were on before swapping the hard drives.
Is the new Evilnat version (4.89.3) really compatible with all PS2 games like it's said? If so, are PS2CONFIG and the PS2 Classics Emulator Compatibility List redundant?
