Neo MK6 Save Cart & Top Toy DS carts announced
Neoflash team need castrating
Â
Remember a while ago we mentioned that the Neoflash team were due to release the MK-R6 Gold & Silver slot-1 carts? Well, forget about them because the Neoflash team have just unveiled their two newest products; the "Neo MK6 Save Cart" and the "Top Toy DS" - two new slot-1 carts.

The Neo MK6 Save Cart appears to be a new PassMe type device, designed to be used in conjunction with the slot-2 Neo 2/3, it's standard slot-1 cart sized, has support for all save types and works on all Nintendo DS models.[title:Neo MK6 Save Cart feature list]the NEO MK6 save cart SPEC:
* 1:1 Original small size
* support all NDS
* come with 4K/64K/256K/512K/2M/4M EEPROM save, use command to select save mode
* support neo2/3 full serial
* build in passme function

The "Top Toy DS" or "TTDS" is a slot-1 drag'n'drop flash cart with a promised "100%" compatibility, cheat support, soft-reset, multimedia support and apparently full DS Download Play compatibility.[title:Neo Top Toy DS (TTDS) features list]the NEO TopToy DS SPEC:

* 1:1 Original small size
* Build in passme function
* not need patch, just need drag and drop,then plug and play
* support homebrew app & game
* support moonshell movie player
* support soft reset in the game
* support cheat code function, more fun now
* support wireless multi-player
* support brightness adjust in menu
* pure hardware save, never lose data
* tf menu core upgradeable
* support all roms,compatibility = 100%
Keep an eye on GBAtemp for more news on these, or whatever new carts the team decide to throw out in the future!

I wonder how NeoFlash manages to finance all that crap. AND the competitions. Guess it's a hobby of some Japanese rich guy ...

hmm wish they'd stop wasting time rehashing products over and over and make that N64 flash cart. I bet they'll come out with a couple more sega genesis flash carts in the mean time, which nobody has any use for. I haven't bought anything this company makes, nothing is innovative here.

Well the "Pure Hardware Save" sounds neat.
That's about it for the positive things.

Why are these still being made? It's not like these have anymore new features than what's already out there. And by the looks of it, not only does it look cheaply made, but the support will probably be non-existant.

Wow... Were their other products so extremely crappy? Everyone seems to hate them

Anyway, these products seem unneeded. The passcard might be handy though; some people still use a Slot-2 card instead of a Slot-1 card. And this can hold a save too, so it's actually slightly better than other PassMe devices

I definitely agree PharaohsVizier, most of the hate towards Neo seems to stem from the "it doesn't run #xxxx right this second so it's crap" crowd (aka: software gripers.) You know, the ones who complain about having to do an arm7 fix on some obscure title no one will ever play anyway on R4.

I have had various products from Neo in my grasp (even have a MK6 Save Cart in front of me right now) and I have to say the hardware isn't the problem, it's generally well made (though I am definitely no friend of their USB linkers), though the software focus definitely isn't 100% on 1:1 commercial game compatibility, or for that matter appeasing upgrade junkies (I speak mainly of myself on this point, nothing I love better than updates even if they have nothing I'd need xD.)

Makes me feel a little left out... beta tester?

Anyway, I have had a few Neo products in the past and I have have very little trouble. Neo flash are very kind to the homebrew community with the competitions and free samples etc. I've been using the recently announced R6Gold (flash card with motion control) and its great, I've been using it as my 'main' card and it hasn't fell apart or stopped working for no reason.

I'm assuming that the hardware save is a lot kinder to your msd card than other methods (less writes). I don't really understand the need for another passcard though, when most of the DS world are now producing slot-1 cards.

I'm realy just talking without actually saying anything, so I'll shut up now.

Castration, I hear?
Someone get the hatchetÂ

But seriously, the guy(s) behind this team must have a LOT of spare cash...

This.

The "Top Toy" DS sounds exactly like an R4.

I wonder if it supports SDHC...

Nah.. They'd put it in the feature list.
I think Neoflash needs to move on to Auto-Detecting save-types.
