Hacking ORDERED AN IEDGE CARD..TURNED OUT TO BE FAKE!

Hi all,

I ordered an Iedge card from this site a few days ago..

http://www.r4i.co.uk/shop/iedge/iedge-card...with-1.4-/19206

When I received it I was all ready to go with the software from http://www.edge-ds.cn/

Imagine my disappointment when the packaging stated it was from a different website http://www.edgei-ds.cn/ (subtle difference!!) and it would not accept the official version.

I eventually got it working using the dodgy sites software but the GUI is nowhere near as good as the real version. The real site knows all about this fake site it has posted the following on its site..

These fakes are not supported by the EDGE firmware and the product is no way associated with the EDGE team. Consumers should avoid purchase of this product, as the support is poor and the compatibility is low. We will shortly post pictures showing you how to identify the fakes.

I contacted the website and told them my issues but after 90 minutes I could not get them to understand that mine was a fake!! I gave up in the end. The card seems to do the job, all the ROMs not working on R4 even with YSMENU do work on it apart from Bowsers inside story.

I need to order another PROPER edge card, does anyone know where I can guarantee getting a legit one?

That xpertron site looks good thanks. One of the few sites to show the back of the triangular box so you can see which website it refers to.

it hasn't been open long but I recommend it anyway as it has it's own GBAtemp section and it was set up with the help of GBAtemp (but it's nothing to do with GBAtemp just an affiliate)

Same here

I contacted them through their pathetic "live chat" facility, told them the card was fake, provided proof of this only to be told that i was wrong and the card was legit

They were saying the other site (the proper official one) was the fake lol

I was led to believe that www.r4i.co.uk was a reputable site..............Yeah....right!!!!!!!

So everyone avoid WWW.R4i.CO.UK .....they sell fakes and their customer service is a joke

The same thing happened to me.
I got an iedge card from this company after a short delay of a couple of weeks.

The card sticks slightly in my DS lite when i push the rom to release it.

It does not work with the software from the "genuine" site, either.

I have just sent an e-mail to R4i and am awaiting a reply.

Very disappointed. No doubt they will tell me the same!

So when you went to the firmware site of the edge. Why didn't you click on, Reseller on top of the page. It will show you which site the sell the iEDGE on there even which country you in.

Clearly what they mean is that the software from edgei-ds.cn works with the CLONE. Also, there's a warning about the clones on the front page of edge-ds.cn

I tried this - it don't, the fake does not have an LED that lights up during the bootstrap flashing. I've got mine to work with the clones own firmware, but boy, its a pile of shite to look its interface!

No doubt they, as an affiliate, get paid for clicking through their link.

I've just e-mailed them to let them know. Let's see if they remove the link!

I will post their reply as soon as (or if) I get one!

.......I have today (9/4/10) received an apology from the webmaster at www.edgedscards.co.uk
who has now removed the "banner link" and endorsement regarding www.r4i.co.uk.......

I have emailed edgedscards website also as that was where I saw their recommendation to by from R4i site.

I have still had no answer to my emails. R4i still deny the 2nd site is a fake and they say their cards work perfectly.

Nightmare!!!

I've tried (in vain) to understand the poor translation from this site

Can anyone help with an ENGLISH translation, please?

At least if I can get something out of this fiasco, it would be of benifit.

Hello everyone,

I received my Edgei card yesterday from R4i.co.uk and spent the whole evening trying to get it setup- and today i discovered it is a fake. Im very annoyed as I was led to believe this is a genuine card seller. The fact that the back of the packaging and the Live chat directed me to the fake edge website (edgei-ds.com) says it all really. However, my boyfriend has helped me to get this fake card working- you need to go into the fake site and download the EdgeOS (v1.8) by clicking on one of the download adresses. Then extract the file and copy the .dat file and _edgei file to your SD card. Then copy your games onto there and put it into the edge card and into your DS.The Interface is very different to the genuine one and games do work. However, I would like to know if there is anything else significantly different to the genuine one?- or if i should just keep this fake card?

Try to get a refund, then order the real cart from ShopTemp. Also, you were charged twice the average price for that clone.
