Trying to undub this rom . Replaced the sound and movie's folder which gave me movies with no voices. Then tried moving coolres.rsb from the (U) rom to the (J) rom which did give me voices in the movies but ended up with garbled text. Anyone else trying to undub this game?

I have the same problem.

i already tried undubbing this, and i got no voice during the movie
but everything else seems normal to me, only the voices are missing, not the bgm or sfx

found the problem
it's in \data\sound\se.sdat
but the dillema is, if this file isn't replaced then the character's voice will be dubbed (which is very nasty)
the boy's voice like a 30 yo man

It´s because the pointers and sizes are different for the speech and some effects in the Japnese version the voices and so in se.sdat starting at 0x498200 and in the english version at 47D000.

No the movies are exactly the same files

and i made a mistake about the start offsets anyway because there are *_us.STRM files in the japanese and english (in the japanese version they are empty) version i now thinking that there must be anywhere a "switch" to use the japanese sound files and not the *_us.STRM files.

There's a problem. In some cases the numbering of the EV***_***_us and the EV***_*** is different. I checked the se.sdat and this is what seems different (sometimes there's just +/- 1 value difference):
ev230_012_us
ev230_051_us
ev250_021_us - maybe ev250_020?
ev250_031_us - maybe ev250_030?
ev250_111_us - maybe ev250_110?
ev260_021_us - maybe ev260_020?
ev260_022_us
ev290_051_us - maybe ev290_050?

Same here. I Also tried to replace the movie files, it didn't make any difference.

Tried with the European rom too, still no voice during the movies.

Well after several days of work I have successfully made an undub for this game where it is english text but japanese voices when attacking and english voices during movies (instead of silence). I have tried to make a complete undub for the game where there is english text but japanese voices when attacking and japanese voices during the movies but I can only undub some movies, not all (around 30-40% undubbed during movies).

The reason is there are a different amount of .strm files compared to the japanese and english version. I have tried splitting and combining some of the strm files but not successfully (I tried extracting the data part of the file with a hexeditor and importing it in another file while modifying the header to reflect updated file sizes but the second half of the audio file does play but there is jitter). If anyone knows how to convert WAV to STRM and/or combine and split STRM files I will be able to complete this undub.

The_Lost_Sabre: I still not have been able to combine or split STRM files so I have not been able to complete the undub. If you want what versions I have made so far here are links to two versions of the patch:

Version 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=00LZ5TY8
Version 2: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FKVB7D0C

Version 1 has Japanese battle voices but English movie voices.
Version 2 has Japanese battle voices and partial Japanese movie voices (the rest are English).

those patches are for the EU release or the US release or both?

Thanks man

edit: tried this with the EU release, it loads if the backup cheat is on but not if it is turned off
(thus kinda useless since you need it turned on to save)

will try the US tom. I hope it works else I'll go back to playing the dubbed version.

btw I use:
1Gb Kingston Japan
R4 original
1.18 with YSmenu

I'm well aware that you still have yet to completely finish the undubbing process KyleA. I'm just curious if you plan to make something similar. I apologize if I sounded a bit rude earlier.

;;

seracrux: Sorry I failed to mention it is for the US version, not EU. You will have to use the cheat to save if your backup card does not make it already work as I did not apply the patch fix manually.

Thx for the undub so far KyleA, I just tested and its quite nice, too bad about the movies though. I just wanted to mention that during the last boss, after a certain time the game freezes, just wanted to let u know

Tamachan4ever: Which version of the patch were you using (1 or 2)? Also were you playing the first part of the last boss or the second part?

Also if anyone experiences crashes if you could provide your save file so I can test it from that point it will be useful in fixing the error.
