Hi,
We currently want to understand basics of game, mostly gameplay menus so its playable for you.
if we finish this phase 1, we'll delve into story. (any comments?)

So I take pictures of game and post them on this first post and when i get translation of a picture, i'll edit that pic and replace the Japanese with translated English one.

decided to do another way:
there will be one file of untranslated pix and set of archives of translated ones,
this will help to not to have a heavy page and consumes time, since i'm on dial up.

Thnx in advance to all contributers.
(we appreciate if anyone helps us to actually translate the game files too, i know most of ppl here are already familiar).

Note if you want to help:
First try to translate Gameplay driven pix, if done and there are no newer uploads, translate story driven ones,

i'll take pix and put it in Untranslated, but they are like identical to old FFTA games, since i could beat some guys without knowing anything. trial and error for some time.

9531: I wasn't really sure about this one. Someone else can translate if they want... but I think if you're playing the game you'll be able to figure out exactly what they mean.

Projectiles are banned (I think)

I'm not exactly sure what this next part means since I haven't played the game yet:

Bows, strong bows, guns, cannons can't use the "Fight" (たたかう）　card?

Or: Bows, strong bows, guns, cannons and "fight" cards are banned.

p.s. i didnt get more into game itself, is it ok with you guys to do little more of story? from intro till after first battle?

if anyone gives me their save files, i can take pix, since i dont have most of items and they are very important to hvae translations.

another thing, should I keep the images at full size or make a thumbnail out of each one? since it may make the page so heavy.
 
Ok. I got a real live Japanese person to help me with a few bits I wasn't sure about, so they should be fine.

Are you uploading more soon? I'm about to go to sleep.

edit: Sweet. Just upload whatever you want. I'm just translating because it's fun.
 
Personally, I think that the focus shouldn't be on the story translation, as that will most likely get incredibly complex and take a very very long time.

If we focus on translating laws, abilities, weapons and menu options, it would make the game far easier to play.

Secondary should be missions, and story should be LAST. Instead of fully english, I think english-friendly is more realistic...


That being said, if anyone can hack their game to have all weapons/armor/items, I would deffinitely go through them and translate all the ones I can...(since most of them are in katakana, I can do it

And since im playing it simultaneously, does anyone know what that huge message says when you select "hard mode".
 
Warbird's translations seem good. Most are better than mine. My flatmate wasn't actually all that helpful, haha. I thought that was "exchange" or "trade" (Chinese is my second language, and Japanese is a distant third) or something on the title screen, but he just kept saying it's not really proper Japanese, so I just wrote "Wifi".

But is that one about the law "no jumping allowed"? Or "no projectiles?"

well, i havent played it yet, so some translations were kind of hard without a real context.

Looking at that translation again, it seems "No projectile weapons" would be correct (japanese use the same word for fly and jump...)

and ?? (???? - koueki) is a real word

I'd go with "great bow" for that weapon you asked earlier. Strong bow is more literal, but great bow sounds like a proper translation.

Yeah, I know. but as you said, great bow souned better than strong bow. I havent played too many FF games, so I'm not too sure about all the special FF words though.
