GBA roms need to run from SLOT 2!
if you really want to use gb and gbc then try the roms on their own don't pack them into a GBA rom that's just silly!
but as above Will also recommend LAMEBOY as best way to play gameboy/gameboy color roms you can scale the screen up and has loads of other cool features

You need a slot 2 device to run .gb/.gbc/.nes files straight from YSMenu as it uses the slot 2 emulators.
you can also get a YSMenu loader for MoonShell so you can still load ROMs from MoonShell, and then you can use MoonShell as your firmware, its much nicer than YSMenu, and with this, it has most of the functionality.
