The left picture applies to ALL cards, so if yours does not look like the part that I've circled red then it is FAKE!

The shape of the front edge of the SC holder is also a good indicator.

Tanas, where did you get your information from? I believe the OP is incorrect. Mine is like the one in the upper-left -- it doesn't have the white dash -- but it is definitely real. It's one of the original DSTT's, from before there were any clones.

I received 10 from dealextreme today so I decided to open one to see whether it was real or fake and to my disappointment it was a fake, all 10 are the same as shown in the picture in the upper-left.
I also have a DSTT which I bought before the fakes with the gold dot appeared and that's the one shown in the upper-right.

Are you sure your 10 are fakes? How do you know? What picture are you comparing them to in order to determine if they're fakes? The ndstt.com website only shows the insides of the newer ones (the ones with the divot at the microSD slot) on the anti-fake page.

I think that there are some that look like the one on the upper-left that are real. In other words, you have to open them up to know for sure (unless it has a gold dot which would be visible without opening it up and would indicate a fake).

Granted, I've never opened mine up to see what it looks like inside, but it was bought long before any of the clones started showing up.

My dstt doesn't look like either of them..
and I'm pretty sure it's real.. cause I got the latest update like 2 weeks ago

Here is picture of a legit card which is one of the ones that has the divit, notice the dots are identical to the ones shown in the upper-right picture.

I cant guarantee that all ten are fakes, but I think that's its just to much of a coincidence that the one I open with the missing dot just happend to be a fake, and all ten came with the same identical card readers.

The card readers are just something that dealextreme throws in for an extra 50 cents or so. They aren't official DSTT card readers (the DSTT is no longer sold with a card reader).

How do you know that the one you opened up with the missing dot is fake? Once you cracked it open (I assume it was glued shut since it was an older style shell) what were you comparing it with to see if it was fake or not? Post a picture of it opened up and then tell us why you think it's fake.

All I know is that I'm pretty sure mine is real and it looks like the one you've labeled "fake" in the upper-left corner of the OP.

Just for info Razor blade is good to open up these puppies.

Checking Tanas pics seems to indicate the DSTT I got DX @ 6-8 months a go is real, that one survived the first 1.16 version with no apparent problems.

The 2 recent ones I got are definately fakes and are exactly the same as the pic by Tanas on the bottom of page 1, these 2 died within a few days of putting the first 1.16 version on them. They now can't boot properly, they just lock up on the initial white screen, very occasionally they do boot, about 1 in 100 times.. contact trouble I have ruled out by trying many diff DS's, taking the plastic teeth off, pushing the cart down,various slips of paper trick both in and outside the cart casing...... they are just knacked.

Actually, according to an image on the ndstt.com website, that's a fake: http://www.ndstt.com/en/images/fake_pcb_1-6_large.jpg

Tanas' looks like Fake 5.

HOWEVER, I cracked mine open and it doesn't look like that one. Mine is real, although it looks like Tanas' from the outside. I'll post some pictures soon.

So, Tanas, you cannot tell from the outside. And thanks for making me break it open to prove it!

Just had delivery of one of the recent black case DSTT's.
Not very happy with it as it only boots once in a while.
Mostly comes up as ERROR or MENU? or locks with lower white screen.
Shame really as the white version all have worked OK.
Not opened it yet to inspect it but not that it will help it work any better.
