Ya I originally skipped the conversion to CHD step when using the emulator and none of my games ran good no matter what I tried.

Seems to be an entirely *essential* step if you want proper ps1 emulation using the 3ds core of PCX-ReArmed

correct it must be CHD or else you'll get like 10 fps that isnt playable at all. i havent tried pbp either which is another recommended file format to use
Pbp was my original choice since it seemed to be as good as an option as CHD. It wasnt even playable with racing games, or some 3d ones. Music and audio also stays broken with pbp.

So even though pbp can be playable CHD is at least 2xs better.

Fully playable cutscenes without video/audio stutter, and perfect gameplay. Now if only I could get tomb raider 1/2 to load :'(

Apologies if this is a stupid question but is the compatibility list up to date? I would love to play front mission 3 the full way through :) on my 3ds

I guess you can ask here if there are some workaround to your problem, also you can report issues to github
For some reason when I try to open my BIN or CHD files, it doesn't recognize it as a PS file, says that a core isn't installed. Any idea why?
Installed the core as a CIA off of UniversalDB

I often try to install reotrarch on n3ds via homebrew stores, but it seems not a good choice. Try to install manually retroarch first. (Uninstall the cia and Is also good choice to delete retroarch folder, but keep in mind to backup important folders like save data and bios.)
There's no reason to install single cia file, it's better the standard retroarch stable. Also, are you on n3ds/n2ds and you did placed bios in the right folders?

Sorry, I just reinstalled the assets file from the universalDB and it worked. Didn't install retroarch off the DB since I assumed the cores were self-contained

Bugs Bunny & Taz: Time Busters i have annoying problem, the image goes up and down as if the frames alternately position themselves one above and the other below causing the image to shake. The rest is perfect, the game runs smoothly

I am having issues finding some of the settings that the spreadsheet mentions, like Forced Interlaced or Audio Method. I think I've looked at all the setings and core options, where are they?

I've tried Vandal Hearts NTSC, and seemed to work at full speed. Digimon World and Torneko - The Last Hope seem to also work fine (needs to turn off the Interlaced, which I couldn't find), but I only tested a few minutes. Final Fantasy Tactics seemed to play perfectly, barring very small stutters when some character tried to do an ability, could have been coincidence, need more testing.

With some tweaking of the settings, I got Digimon - Card Battle to work at 60 frames (which is the speed it runs originally) but there are small slowdowns whenever the battling digimons are spawned, and besides that it plays quite nice. If you have the battle scenes turned off, it could be considered full speed from what I've seen.

Edit: All these games were NTSC and CHD format.

I guess retroarch team made some major changes to the core. I updated the compatibility info today.

I found a way to make Final Fantasy 8 work on the Forwarder for 3DS, If you make an eboot of all 4 discs the game will always crash on boot, But if you make an ebbot of just the first 2 it works fantastic, Then after completing disc one you change to 2, then you make a new eboot of disc 2 and 3 and move the save folder to that new game, and so on, Its complicated but it works, I hope this helps

What's the point of using the forwarder? In my test the speed is the same, also i don't know if it is updated to latest core
