Copy the apps folder back to SD, then enter the HBC and try to set to read from USB.

Does other homebrew or USB Loader GX runs flawless from the USB drive?
tried that and is refuses to set to usb not matter if the sd card is or not. im not sure what you are asking for the second question tho

the main reason why im doing this is because i installed fce ultra gx onto my sd card with my applications and it couldnt find my HDD with my nes roms on it even with the correct filing system on my HDD. so i thought if i transfer all my HBC apps to my HDD it would be able to find the nes roms and i would be able to play them then. so if there is a fix for fce to find my USB device to get my roms i wouldnt need to transfer my apps folder to my HDD

First check if your drive uses GPT or MBR partition table. It should be MBR.

Theoretical every homebrew/app can run from usb drive, if it support it. E.g homebrew channel, USB Loader GX. In USB-Loader GX under settings "custom path" can be set to read the .dol from USB.
If you have also other custom channel installed e.g. emulator check them if they can run by using the .dol on usb. I dont know wich is able to do it or not. Do this to verify if its a homebrew channel only problem.

And please post a syscheck. Also please check for latest versiins to use if the installed channels and app dols.

Thats it, most homebrew needs MBR to read from USB. If the drive is empty you can run in Powershell with adminrightsdiskpart -> list disk -> select disk -> convert MBR -> clean or use a tool like aomei partition manager to convert without datalose.

Correct, copy everything to desktop, then convert. And yes, theoretically it should work. Or format the hole drive new, but with MBR. Windows should support it in the drivemanagement. Then try different homebrew application if they recoginze the drive or can run from it.

Check in drivemanagement if the drive is there and format it. Else run in Powershell with adminrights bootsect /nt60 <driveletter>: /mbr
Then use guiformat/fat32formatter to format it to fat32 with 32k clustersize.

Ok now you can proceed with trying if the homebrew apps recognice it and/or run from it
can confirm that the apps folder on the HDD now works, all the apps are booting of HDD so now im just making sure they are corrected to the right custom path, thankyou so much its been a great help
