Actually, yes it has been done and is entirely possible. Lemme contact my friend who has done it and I'll see what I can do about getting him to post it on here for you all.

I think he lied. I know something about slot machines in HG/SS, discovered myself. In western releases they replaced Overlay77 with a 20 bytes placeholder and switched to the new added Overlay128 for the Voltorb Flip. I tried to reinsert the Overlay77 but without adaptation it crashes on western releases.

Perhaps would be useful the disassembly but is still a WIP and they didn't add the Overlay77 from J roms to adapt it to works with western code. Told that they will not do too.

Then the only way is know how decode the Overlay77 file (I don't know how) and fix the linking to the rest of the western ROM code. Seems not easy unfortunately...
