Internal vs. USB vs. disc vs. Ps3NetServ

All ps3 can do ps1 and ps2 games since cfw etc. Some native some emu.

Maximum drive size is 1.5tb and you can do a 2tb to 1.75tb trick like on psx-place. USB 2tb and maybe bigger with prep ntfs I dunno havent tried.

Do you know how many PS1 and PS2 emulators are there in the latest PS3 FW? Sorry, it's so confusing.

Also, can PS3 emulators be chosen and isn't there a PSP emulator?

Do you know how many PS1 and PS2 emulators are there in the latest FW installed in a PS3 Fat/Slim/Super Slim? Sorry, this is very confusing. What about the PS3 with HAN/HFW/HEN installed?

Also, can one choose the PS3 emulators he/she wants to use, how many emulators are there for the PS2 and isn't there a PSP emulator?
CFW able ps3 you can play bin cue ps1 and ps2 iso without any extra steps and depending on your model it will be native or the emu kicks in, you dont do anything.

Hen is whats used nowadays as hen is obsolete and with hen you need an extra step on ps2 isos and use rebug ps2 launcher. PSP isos are launched with psp launcher as well.

Native vs emu is based on model

Early models that had ps2 inside are native then sony removed it on later models, those are emu.

But some PS1 and PS2 emulators may be more compatible with some games, hence I'm asking if it's possible to change them. OK, but how many PS1 and PS2 emulators are there on the latest PS3 FW?

You mean, HAN is obsolete?

So, there's no PSP emulator?

not that I know of. one sec.

this is from rebug 4.86.1 lite that I decrypted on my pc. I only leave it there to check file locations, otherwise it's useless.

psp classic and psp remasters are both running the same emulator (pspemu) unlike for ps1 and ps2 there arent any secondary ones

Why is a launcher needed to run PSP games unlike PS1's and PS2's?

I didn't know PS2 Classics and PS2 ISO and BIN/CUE games converted to PKG had an encrypted PS2 version of the game (in the ENC format) inside the PKG file. PSOne Classics and PS1 BIN/CUE games converted to PKG also have an encrypted PS1 version of the game (in the PBP format) inside the PKG file.

It seems the latest PS3 FW has all 3 PS1 emulators (ps1_emu, ps1_netemu and ps2_newemu) and 3 PS2 emulators (ps2_emu, ps2_gxemu and ps2_netemu) out of 4.

Also, apparently, all PS1 emulators have harcoded PS1 game configurations, ps2_emu, ps2_gxemu and ps2_softemu have hardcoded PS2 game configurations and only ps2_netemu can load PS2 game configurations from an external file.

EDIT: I bought an used PS3 since the previous stopped reading BRs, installed webMAN MOD and it hasn't been freezing my PS3 so maybe it was the previous PS3's HDD's fault. Anyway, I got used to IRISMAN, so I uninstalled webMAN MOD again.

EDIT 2: Now, PS2-Home is redirecting to the official OPL GitHub repository when downloading the latest OPL Beta version instead of downloading its former Daily Build and ifcaro forks and it stopped releasing the latter two. Apparently, I had bad luck to access PS2-Home at the time. Also, the official OPL's GitHub repository says anyone can contribute improvements to OPL due to its open-source nature so how did PS2-Home steal the project like I was told in PSX-Place?

EDIT 3: A GitHub user (grimdoomer) released OPL forks which support + 2 TB exFAT/FAT32 internal HDDs/SSDs/SSHDs and multi-BDM devices. Didn't he steal the project like PS2-Home, then? The internal HDDs/SSDs/SSHDs can be formatted on the PC with the GPT or MBR partition styles. The official OPL versions only support the APA partition table and wLE can format the internal HDD/SSD/SSHD to it (the partitions it creates are in the PFS file system, which is a proprietary file system used by Sony).

EDIT 4: The latest official OPL Beta versions now support + 2 TB exFAT (or FAT32) internal HDDs/SSDs/SSHDs formatted with the GPT (or MBR) partition style and they appear as a BD called "HDD (GPT/MBR)".

EDIT 5: Now, APA-Jail supports the latest official OPL Beta versions. APA-Jail allows internal HDDs/SSDs/SSHDs to have both the APA and the MBR/GPT partition schemes with a FAT32/exFAT partition meant for PS2 games.

EDIT 6: I installed PS2 ISO Launcher and it's actually called PS2 Classics Placeholder, installed PS2 Launcher REBUG and it's actually called PS2 ISO & Classics Launcher and installed webMAN MOD's Brewology's/GitHub repository's PS2 Classics Launcher and it's actually PS2 Classics Placeholder (maybe an updated version of it). I deleted all of them.

EDIT 7: I converted a PS2 ISO to ENC using PS3 Tools Collection's PS3 PS2 Classics GUI, uploaded it to the PS3's PS2ISO folder, ran it using IRISMAN and it said PS2 Classics Placeholder must be installed so I installed it again. After running the game again using IRISMAN, it asked if I wanted to copy the PS2 image to PS2 Classics Placeholder so I did it. It took some time and then IRISMAN asked if I wanted to exit to XMB to launch the mounted game with PS2 Classics Placeholder and I did it. Finally, I ran PS2 Classics Placeholder and it ran the game. The "BIN" filename extension (as well as the "ENC" one) can't be deleted or IRISMAN won't recognize the game. The PS2 game is still mounted in the PS2 Classics Placeholder even after restarting the PS3 and deleting the game on the PS3's PS2ISO folder (when copying the PS2 image to PS2 Classics Placeholder, it copied the ISO.BIN.ENC file to "/dev_hdd0/game/PS2U10000/USRDIR"). Also, what are the advantages of the encrypted PS2 games? Are they more compatible than BIN/CUE and ISO ones? Anyway, I deleted PS2 Classics Placeholder. PS2 ISO Launcher's Brewology page says it's used to launch PS2 ISO or PS2 Classic format games (on the ENC format, not on the PKG one, since apparently this term [PS2 Classic format] is used in the homebrew scene to refer to encrypted PS2 games) on non-BC PS3 CFW enabled consoles so it's for my PS3, whose model is CECH-2004B and has Evilnat CFW installed. PS2 ISO Launcher isn't needed to launch PS2 ISOs since IRISMAN and other backup managers can already do it in my PS3. PS2 Launcher REBUG's Brewology page says it's the equivalent to PS2 Classic Placeholder since they both do the same.

EDIT 8: It seems Cobra PSX Launcher is used to run PS1 ISOs but a jailbroken PS3 can already do that so it's not needed.

EDIT 9: TnA got banned in many Discord servers and kicked as a moderator from r/PS2 (Reddit) like said here. Serves him right. It seems he was in PS2-Home too when he said to not download OPL Daily Build forks (that are in it), which is ridiculous. I don't know if he got banned from there, though, but he's still in PSX-Place and in Reddit, even if on the latter he's no longer a moderator on the PS2 subreddit. Regarding HWNJ, it seems he is @Chelsea_Fantasy and he answered me in this GBAtemp thread.

EDIT 10: I gave webMAN MOD a new chance and before reinstalling it I removed IRISMAN. The "webMAN games" setting was empty with my external HDD connected to the PS3, which is odd. I disconnected it, restarted the PS3 and it wasn't empty. I installed prepISO and use it to scan the external HDD connected to my PS3 every time I make changes to my PS1 and PS3 games (which are now in the same partition) since the external HDD is formatted as NTFS. Also, I wasn't being able to connect the PC to the PS3 via FTP using FileZilla Client and webMAN MOD until I did this. I can't change the PS2 emulator on my PS3 with webMAN MOD since it's a PS3 Slim and so not BC.
