Original switch, pre 2018.
OFW 14.1.1 , never CFW before.
Formatted SD card via Switch.
Extracted newest Atmosphere and sigpatches.
Boots Atmosphere fine.
Go to Album, shows Daylight and reboot to payload.
back up a level, launch HBMENU, screen blinks, nothing happens.
Suggestions on what to try next?
Thank you

What kind of controller? Maybe this is something other People know how to fix. Maybe manufacturer support can help? They should help because their product can’t run with latest Nintendo firmware and bricks when you upgrade their firmware. SMH
It's eeekit wireless pro controller, I googled everything about it and I cannot find any support or anything about it.

im trying to play smash bros but im getting error and i have to reboot the system

so im using moded v2, and game update 10.0 (thats halfway)
the reason is, so that i can use cheat edison

moving on, i played smash i mean the standard and it works fine. but i only have like 8 characters
so its pretty boring, so i started to explore the game and looking for how to unlock other characters..
(never played smash bros and never played the previous games as well)

i dont know the mechanics but i entered the spirits. and in entering the first staged, boom error and rebooted.
i also entered the other area but sill it has error and rebooted.

i tried using tinfoil, shared save, but it failed.
(its too many and i haven't tried it all) but i just tried BCAT in its name)

went to option to find puting it offline but boom error and rebooted.

Hey wonder if anyone can help me. So I’ve been using CFW on my Switch for the past few years. I used an SD Raw Partition and booted from atmosphere, however I never made a backup of the eMMC. I had recently copied the entire contents of the SD card to an external HDD. A couple of days ago my SD card becomes unusable. Is there any way to transfer the contents on the external HDD onto a new SD card? I tried a simple drag and drop but ended up with the Invalid GPT Signature screen. Any help would be appreciated!
Try using NXnandmanager or Emutool to see your emunand partition, make a copy and migrate it to another card. If you can’t read the card there aren’t many other options .

Sounds like there’s an incompatibility between the version you have and the cheats you’re trying to use. This is just part of the adventure when you chose to go down the path less travelled. You’re going to have to keep using trial and error until yiu find something that works for your specific situation. There might be a cheats thread where people who have more experience with the specifics congregate. Will see if I can find it…

i havent use the cheat yet..
i installed one of the saves from tinfoil (save injector)
its working fine

and now im starting to grasp my situation. everytime there is a tutorial.
baam! error and rebooted
doesn't matter where it happens (option, creating character and in game, as long as it has tutorial.. it will give me error..

now im confuse why its happening..

With all the guides I've been seeing which would be preferred/recommended? I have a 2017 switch. I already have a jig. I want to be able to run emulators, play game backups and be able to boot into android.

Lapsed homebrewer here. Finally got my hands on a unpatched Switch (used) that connects to the internet just fine and shows no evidence of ever being used for homebrew. It came without an SD card.

I have a few questions for the more experienced modders here:
  1. Is there any way to really know if this thing was ever hacked? I understand that most bans are console bans, but don't want to risk my main account.
  2. Which is the best guide for installing CFW on the Switch? There are a few out there, and they seem to be outdated in some regards. Don't want to use YouTube videos.
  3. I only plan to use this Switch for editing Pokemon. Can I do this in sysnand CFW safely? Some people seem to think so. If so, is there a way to completely kill internet when loading into sysnand CFW?
  4. Is there any reason to install emunand if I don't plan on installing backups or any other homebrew? Can I do so later if I want to try emulation and Steam streaming to the Switch?
  5. What are common pitfalls I should avoid? I plan on doing a few days of research before I even put the Switch into RCM.
Thank you!

If it is able to connect to the eshop then it mean it probably meant that it was never hacked, if it was banned that would explain it, as for cfw guide you can probably follow https://rentry.org/CFWGuides

As for pokemon editing if you have no intention of going online on the same nand, then it is fine to use sysnand, other wise use an emunand for all your editing.

Thanks for the input.

So loading into sysnand CFW, using JKSM to dump saves and edit, then using OFW on the same nand to connect to Pokemon HOME to transfer back is a bad idea? Sorry if I'm being a total noob.

I use two units for pokemon editing, I have one for online and one for editing purpose.

1) Anyone have any experience with PSNES on switch? I've loaded the ROM in the correct folder, launch PSNES, and then no roms appear. PSNES seems to launch just fine.

2) I used Checkpoint to move a Pokemon Shield save from one switch to another. Now when I load Pokemon Shield it runs the opening, then goes black (when it tries to load the save) then crashes. Anyone else with this experience that can help?

Thank you!

i should have said “cheat or game save”.

Not sure why following a tutorial would cause a crash.

Please share the tutorial you’re looking at right now and maybe that will help us better understand your issue.

where did you put your roms and what format are they in? (No links please)

Try JKSV

Does anyone know how to reset Retroarch controls? I can’t move in the menu at all. I tried deleting it but can’t move anything , only push select and back. Any suggestions?

Does Tinfoil still list updates needed for games even though I had already installed them through an SD card? Or does Tinfoil still list them even though I already have them updated? Is there anyway to know which updates I need?

It will list update for game if there is one available if you have latest already it won't list it

roms were placed in "/switch/psnes/roms/" directory on sdcard.
I've tried running PSNES in applet mode and full mode. No roms appear.
The ROM I used was from Vimm's Lair. It is a (.sfc) file. Super Mario World (USA).

As far as Pokemon Shield goes, I think I've figured it out. I'm dumb and I think the versions of the game are different. Gonna try fixing that later.
