How do you upgrade a hacked Switch's firmware?

I've remained on an older firmware version for a while because it still works and it's not like Nintendo actually adds features worth using but sooner or later I will have to upgrade to play new games.

To my understanding you download the latest versions of Atmosphere, Hekate and sigpatches and drag and drop them to the micro SD card overwriting the old ones. Then you upgrade your Switch's firmware to the latest version by downloading it from another Switch locally.

Is this correct?

U download it on the same switch then use tegraexplorer to dump it then use daybreak to update emunand

There are a few of paths:

• You get the firmware files from the net, the darthsternie site is a good source. you copy the files on your SD Card and use Daybreak homebrew to install the new version.
• Use a already updated Switch and run tegraexplorer or https://gbatemp.net/threads/updated-firmware-dumper.587625/ to dump the current firmware, copy the files to the SD card of the other Switch and use Daybreak to update.
• Connect to the net and let Ninty to update the switch, which will leave your console banned for sure.

You can do that or you can use the homebrew application Daybreak to update your firmware offline.

basically that is correct, but if you are on Atmosphere below 1.0.0 you will need some additional steps (https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/releases/tag/1.0.0)

you FIRST update Atmosphere and Hekate USING THE LATEST FILES FROM GITHUB

A common problem after updating, are outdated sysmodules, mods and similar, you must backup SD:/atmosphere/contents folder and delete from your SD card, then copy the latest set of SIGPATCHES it's important to update sigpatches.

Then you use DAYBREAK to upgrade firmware.

you need to reinstall any sysmodule, mod, cheat and themes you use.

when you use any automated update process you can get stuck because it's impossible for a automatized process think on all the variations and combinations..
