Resident Evil 4 Remake finally confirmed

Following heavy rumors, leaks, and the increasingly likely probability that Capcom would remake yet another entry in the Resident Evil series, it has finally been confirmed that Resident Evil 4 is getting remade. Leon Kennedy returns, in an experience that Capcom hopes to both reimagine the story of, while staying true to the "essence of its [the original's] direction". Resident Evil 4 was originally released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005, and in the years since, has been ported to numerous platforms. The RE4 remake will be out on March 24, 2023.

This time, the game is being developed to achieve state-of-the-art quality for a survival horror suitable for 2023, while preserving the essence of the original game. We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it. This is being done by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics and updating the controls to a modern standard.

Looks really good - not just a remake, but a rework of the original. It seems more in-line with RE2 and RE3 remakes, which I like. I hope they’ll be brave enough to take risks and change things rather than just make the same game again from the ground up. They haven’t disappointed me yet, so I’m pretty excited.

Well that looks pretty neat but I won't buy a PS5 for it. I'm not super well versed in this so I'll ask here so I apologize but: can the PS4 play all PS5 games just at a lower resolution/framerate? I understand they're the same architecture and all, but I might just play it on my PS4 if I can. Then again, I'm pretty strict about playing shooters on only my PC or Wii, (besides Killzone Mercenary), so when's the PC port?

To play PS5 games you need a PS5.

Hopefully it'll be released on last-gen and PC too 'cause PS5 only screams of timed exclusive.

I'll buy a PS5, but only in 3-5 years later. Plus, I hate how big/tall the console is.

I hope they fix a couple plot holes. Something that bothers me that's super minor is that when Ada takes the insignia out of the pedestal by the church the gate closes and she has to place the Green Cat's Eye there, but the gate doesn't close when Leon takes the Cat's Eye. Stupid, but essential to Ada's story. I know the reason is that Separate Ways was made after the main story without thinking too much about how it affects the main story.

Another, and way more reasonable thing is who killed Krauser. Original version Leon kills him and you see his body disintegrate. But he's still alive to attack Ada in Separate Ways, but IIRC later summaries of RE4 suggest Leon killed Krauser.
