Hi there I'm wondering if anyone has a tutorial on how to create fpkg movies for the ps4 please, I seen a post on darksoftware website about it (LightingMods created the post) but it doesn't have a written tutorial on it and i can't comment on the actual post due to it being closed... Thanks in advanced

Why would you like to create a movie fpkg? Isn't it a lot easier to just insert an USB drive with a movie on it?
I travel a lot mate and carrying multiple usb/portable hdd around with me all the time is a bit of a headache so i invested in a 8tb 3.5 sata hdd and a caddy case which fits on top of my ps4 so i can have all my games in one place and hopefully if i get sorted i can have all my movies in one place too

got a response:

"Yes, you can replace the MP4 in the PKG, although I wouldn't recommend using the current version as it was made 4 years ago with unity and has audio issues

I might release an updated PKG with everything fixed, as I already have an app that plays 4k videos written in Cpp using Sonys gnm API with the Avplayer (edited)

The only issue is it can't be open source because it uses gnm and sonys cpp template."

I think @Leeful mentioned dumping movies with disc dump as well, but I don't know anything about it. however, it hasn't been updated in years iirc, and I don't think it works on 9.00, which you'd need for the latest AACS keys.

Thanks for the information mate i really appreciate it, Going off what you said about the audio issue though i think i might have a crack at the pPlay homebrew that @cearp mentioned above and i'll see what that's like... If @LightingMods fixes the audio issue though it'll definitely be a godsend I would love to make some fpkg movies with custom icons for my xmb screen, I seen a guy a youtube with some the other day and they looked sick as hell... Thanks again mate you've been really helpful.

Is the caddy a Nyko Data Bank by any chance?
If so i can confirm you will most probably run into issues with your 8tb drive. I have tried this myself a couple of weeks ago. All seemed well at first but after a week or so i had nothing but issues. Had to reinitialize the PS4 a couple of times and reinstall fw, so eventually i got fed up with it crashing on me and removed it. Apparently they don't like 8tb drives at all, most people who have one have a 4tb or smaller drive and it seems to work.

Now only using my original 500gb internal drive and an 8tb external as Extended Storage and that is working perfectly.

My ps4 is a 2nd gen phat console mate running 5.05 fw and I'm using one of these 3rd party caddy's (picture below) with a hdd ripped out of a Seagate Expansion Desktop (Seagate STEB8000402) and i haven't ran into any issues with it yet, I did however have another 8tb hdd in it before which was giving me similar issues like yours but it was down to a refurbished/defective hdd that I bought off Amazon.

That is the exact data bank i have. Yes it worked perfectly for a few days but then went completely tits up and gave me all sorts of issues, random crashes and everytime i switched on the PS4 it would check storage and then fail needing initializing again. Ended up needing to reinstall EVERYTHING from scratch at least twice (Massive pain in the arse). I was using a brand new Seagate 8tb drive which is now in my pc working 100% perfectly. I may give the data bank another go with a 4tb hdd or smaller next time.

The only difference is I'm on 9.00, don't know if that has any impact on how well these caddys work.

I hope yours continues to work well but i would give it a while before you fill that drive up and see if you have any issues with it. I had almost filled it before i had my last crash and re-initialize so gave up at that point.

Just use PPlay, it works great with x265 1080p rips from RARBG, and they are excellent quality with low filesize to boot. As another user mentioned, I believe you can copy them to the internal HDD if you don't want to take an external HDD with you.
