Personally, I think GNOME feels more like a smartphone/tablet UI than a desktop UI, which isn't something I want on my desktop computer. I imagine a Pokemon Center PC would likely be touch-based, though... in which case it seems to me like a pretty reasonable choice to use GNOME.Linux preferences. Some people don't like that Gnome isn't as easily customizable or as modern/sleek as other desktop environments, but it's very snappy and light on resources (at least what's currently used, there were some heavier versions and Unity isn't the lightest).
