Getting straight to the heart of the matter, I converted this psx iso (english patched) to eboot (with maximum data compression) and tested it on my PSP 3004 (with the default version of Pops) and at first everything seemed fine. But during the first car race (when the screen is crowded with cars) the game slows down incredibly and goes jerky, and also the BGM is played very slowly and croaky. Later on, in one-on-one races, graphics and sound seem ok.
Is anyone else playing this atypical racing-rpg? Are you experiencing this same issue? What do you think it could be due to? Does anyone have a solution to propose?
Thank you.

In the meantime, I found a post by a user of romhacking(dot)net forum (the last one in this thread: https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=32773.20 ) that reports the same, identical issue reported by me (using the same PSP 3000 model). But there, as here, no one responded to our request for help.

Maybe you meant POPSLoader v4i?
What's different about this version compared to the others? The one I use is the latest version, the most recent and, I suppose, the most up-to-date.
Yes, lol idk why I said popstation. I do that a lot though, mixing words etc. I was just suggesting the newest one that I am aware of, I am currently getting back in the PSVITA/PSP scene after 12ish years. So I'm not fully up to snuff, though I'm getting there

So welcome back to our family.;)Unfortunately, the PSP section, unlike sections just as old (GBA, DS) is now an abandoned and ruined cemetery; only sometimes, some suffering soul wanders among the gray and worn tombstones, looking for memories of a past, now long forgotten. :wtf:

I'll take a shot at this. Why does it sound like, there are duplicate lines in the program? You said you ADDED the eboot to the game. Thus, It's trying to comply with both eboots. Also adding more cars. "crowded with cars" you said.

Don't judge me harshly. please.

Daddy, I can't understand your comment or your question.:)
I did NOT say I ADDED the eboot to the game, but instead I converted the PSX ( PS1) iso (bin/cue) to eboot format with the Psx2psp tool.
Anyway you can find it already converted if you google "PSP eboot Racing Lagoon english".
The rest of your comment is incomprehensible to me ... Are you sure you are a native english speaker? :rofl2:

Edit: When you said "I'll take a shot at this" I thought you wanted to try the game, instead you meant to give me advice....My bad....:rofl2:

Check the VSH menu. Make sure the 'CPU clock game' setting is up to 333.

Have you tried recreating the PBP using the RE2 SLPS01222 code?
To tell the truth, I'm not really interested in this game anymore; anyway, unlike Dr.Slump and Hokuto no Ken (both of which previously crashed right away), it was already working fairly well, apart from a strong slowdown in the initial race.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

    nvm it does support mine
