Did anyone fix the issue going on with PAL Bios not booting before PAL games on vWii ?
nope pal bios still doesnt work on wiiu, i mean it did waork before but it would break vwii tv signal, that is why its disabled, the pal bios runs at a wierd resolution/framerate that vwii doesnt really liked at all.

Is there a way to fix that ?

Also, if the main problem is the vWii TV signal, the BIOS should be working if used on the Gamepad only, right ?

no its not the tv signal issue, the gamepad also suffered from the distortion, its the wiiu itself that doesnt support it, i remenber fix94 said it was a very wierd rez/framerate combo that probably wasn't even coded in in the wiiu itself so when you used the pal bios you would get a distorted image with 3 gc logos playing on top of each other and then the game would be like that too since it would mess with the video code going forward.

the only way to fix it would be emulating the videomode of the bios which nintendont doesnt do at all, nintendont doesnt emulate videomodes, it can force them through patches but they all already exist in the gc sdk, nintendont doesnt replace videomodes just forces them onto games and if the game is compatible with them they will work, that is why not all games can be forced to all modes due to nintendont not emulating the video signal and just force it through settings, the pal bios is immune to any forcing.

I got my mayflash adapter and finally my gc controller is working on my wiiu! :D

I would like to know if there is a way to show the GC bios intro before running the game? I love that intro!

I use injected gc iso games with tecmoon, that's the only way to make it work with the gc controller on my wiiu.

If I use nintendont from homescreen, gc controller works, but as soon as I select the game to start the controller doesnt work anymore.

check to see if wiiugamepad slot when starting nintendont directly isnt set to player one, if it is you need to change to zero or other slot.

On wiiu you can put the ntsc bios before the games start but only ntsc games, the pal bios doesnt work on wiiu only wii, to do so just get a gamecube ntsc bios and rename it to iplusa.bin and place it on the root of your sd card.

Hey there, i need some help =)
Everything works fine but Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door seems to ignore the option for widescreen. Is there any patch or something to play it in fullscreen. I know many dislike this option but i just like to play fullscreen.
Thanks =)

fullscreen is diferent from widescreen so im not sure what you are asking

Fullscreen just fills the screen and doesnt change the aspect ration so a 4:3game gets stretched and the proportions arent the same.

Widescreen chnages the game from being stretched when full screen to be the perfect ration for 16:9 displays.

anyway there are cheat codes

Normal HUD

This code does not speed up the game in the Shhwonk Fortress.

NTSC-J:

NTSC-U:

The PAL IPL problem on Wii U it's not something to be solved on Nintendon't.
It's a problem on the Wii U vWii VI emulation.
It'll be nice if someone somedays mods the cafe2wii and DMCU firmware to improve and fix various things of the vWii video output and upscaling.

Does anyone else have this issue where the games on Nintendont are consistently too narrow and pillarboxed? Circles appear to be tall ovals, and the aspect ratio is closer to 5:4 than 4:3 (somewhere around 1.22-1.23 if I had to eyeball it).
Now, this could just be my TV's (Hisense H9G) improper handling of 4:3 (and 480p) signals, of course. I've seen this issue pop up in some PS2 games in progressive scan mode (though there 480i seems to work fine, which is not the case here). The TV recognizes the signal as 720x480p@60Hz.
Putting the TV into its "wide" mode makes the game appear too wide (as expected), but not as wide as a proper 4:3 stretched into 16:9. Turning the "overscan" option on helps cut some of the pillarboxing out, but it does nothing for the aspect ratio, as expected.
The specific signal chain is: Wii (latest Nintendont) -> Hyperkin HDMI Adapter -> LG SN6Y (soundbar with HDMI passthrough, doesn't affect video, I checked) -> Hisense H9G.

Here's a few things I tried for this specific game (The Simpsons - Hit and Run, NTSC), since it appears to be one of those "width-resistant" games lol (yeah I know I could just play the PC version, but I've had this issue elsewhere, so it might be worth looking into either way):

1. Launching the game in Dolphin to see what the output looks like. By default (running the game at the native resolution) the window is 640x480 in size, with the game's actual resolution being 584x480 (the rest is pillarboxed). This corresponds to what I see on the HW!

2. Hex editing main.dol of the game - no dice, the game flashes a properly stretched image for a few frames and then goes back to the squished mode (on Dolphin and Nintendont). Not unexpected since I just replaced some 640s with 720s in all the places I could find it. This would also require shifting the image to the left I believe, as it gets cropped slightly.

3. Connecting the Wii to my PC's monitor (Samsung U28R55). Seems to work, with a few caveats. The monitor has 2 options for each of its inputs: PC mode and AV mode. In AV mode, the pillarboxing acts the same as it does on my TV. In PC mode, setting the width to "Auto" seems to correctly interpret the video somehow!

Here's what could be done, potentially:

1.
Figuring out a way to patch the executable / writing an Ocarina code to alter some RAM values. There's already a cheat for 16:9, which gives me, you guessed it, a squished 16:9 that's too narrow - figures. I messed around with the Dolphin's memory viewer for a bit to no avail, so perhaps someone with a little more experience patching GC games specifically could give me a few general pointers here.

2. Getting some kind of a scaling device with a custom width option. I don't feel like dropping $300 on a RetroTink 5x for a few GC/PS2 games, but eventually I might end up just doing it. Wish my TV could do it natively, but alas.

3. Getting a cheap component -> HDMI converter (with an upscaler so that the TV doesn't touch the 480p signal). Feels like a reasonably cheap option (one of those portta things from Amazon is under $50), but the video quality seems to be on the poor side (ringing artifacts due to oversharpening mostly). No guarantee it'll handle the signal properly, though.

4. Building a GBS-C. I'm an electrical engineer so I could probably figure it out, but I'd like to avoid this if it all possible.

5. Getting a capture card and manipulating the video with it.

Any help or thoughts welcome and deeply appreciated! I did read through many of NoobletCheese's posts in this thread, and that knowledge comes in handy when dealing with a game that doesn't ignore the Width setting in Nintendont, but not all games are like that.

Please state actual Nintendont version. "Latest" doesn't help at all.

Dolphin is an emulator so it cannot be used for comparison.

Also is Widescreen turned on (not Wii U Widescreen)?

Sure, good call. It's 6.498 from Sep. 5th, 2021, might not be the latest or the most relevant, true.

Well, it’s the only other method of launching GC games I have at my disposal, and it’s easier to count pixels on direct capture from it (while I don’t have a capture card), but yeah, the HW’s behavior is truly definitive, which is why Dolphin is more of an afterthought in my post

"Force Widescreen" is turned off (I'm trying to get 4:3 out of the game). All of the video options are set to Auto, though changing them doesn't really help either. Video Width is the only one I hoped would work, but it doesn't.

If it matters, this is a PAL Wii on 4.2E (last updated when 4.3E wasn't out yet) set to 480p in the system menu, the game itself is a 1:1 copy of the US GC disc (I live in the US now, so getting PAL games here is not that easy I think). The TV itself was also purchased in the US, though it shouldn't matter.

I only asked about the actual Nintendont version as way too many times the person said latest and what they had was way out of date.

Is Widescreen on or off in the actual Wii System Settings? I do remember there being an issue where games were being display incorrectly as you have seen but I don't remember if a fix was ever figured out.

Widescreen is On in the Wii settings. I recall trying to set it to off without much luck in the way of fixing this issue, but I will try again after I get home and I'll update this post with the results, thanks for the suggestion.

Update: the Widescreen setting in the Wii System Menu doesn't affect this game. The system menu itself is displayed correctly on my TV in both 4:3 and 16:9. Checked a random playthrough on youtube (captured in 2009 on real GC HW, by the looks of it), and it's definitely wider than what I'm seeing.

like you siad its probably your tv intrepertation of the weird resolution off some gc games, on my tv i can manalu adjust any width/height, well its a smart tv so most have those parameters, i can make any screen size i want tough.

Yeah, likely just that, which is why I'm thinking about a way to force the game into the right width with some .dol patching - will probably work on figuring this out over the holidays.

Mine's an Android-based Hisense, and it's usually OK, but when it comes to scaling options... well, there's just not a custom one, unfortunately.
