It was recently reported that PS4 Version 9.0 has a high risk of bricking PS4 consoles! So whatever you do, DON’T UPDATE!
Some people may have been lucky with updating, but many have reported bricked consoles, so beware, or you may have a useless bricked PS4 on hand…

I'm just waiting for a 8.52 exploit btw you can use the hacking DNS addresses to block updates (even if your not on a hackable fw)

They are
DNS 1 (primary): 165.227.83.145
DNS 2 (secondary): 192.241.221.79

just set those up or stay offline
wow this is very useful, now I shall make a random .txt document and put it in there…

i didn't know about this update,
thanx for the PSA :)
good to know not to use the ps4 or had it online enabled while this brick FW is out,
i haven't used my ps4 since beating FF VII RE since may, it's been closed and out of power since then (haven't use it for some time).
so im good, no bricks. i won't turn on my ps4 until they fix the broken fw, like v9.10+ etc.
im on the base "phat" ps4, and nowadays you can't find it that easily, so i need to be extra careful not to brick it.

and if it gets bricked, you can't just take the HDD from it and pop it in the ps5 and it'll work?
no cause you need to transfer all your stuff from the ps4 to the 5, but if it's bricked, you can't even do that, lol.

so, one more reason not to update the ps4 to FW v9.0 .

One of my friend's PS4 Pros got fooped by the 8.xx update string. Messed up the hard drive but nothing a Windows format couldn't fix.

I guess I am the lucky one, updated to 9.00 just fine, the thing does lag though, beside that no issue, was able to copy my PS4 digital games off to an extended drive, and system transfer data to PS5.

I heard that after you update your ps4 Sony said you should submerge it in water to check if the update worked, if it doesn't turn on after that then they recommend you just go buy a ps5.

I read a lot of you talking about lagging or bricking, I guess I just don't use my console that much, but I have automatic updates and use my second handed PS4 Pro mostly for Genshin Impact, I have to say this is my first sony console I don't have problems with, PS1 got its optical reader quickly fucked up(don't know why, it was a normal chip modded console althought I wanted a PS2 at the time but anyway) my PS3 just burned after like three days of use and it didn't have a real warranty so yeah (since it was my father's fault because he didn't check the voltage, me neither but he was the on who turned that thing on)
