Thank you @danny19901 I tried the Wii version it's working fine.
I tried Teconmoon's tool but it only allows Gamepad for retail Wii ISOs, not .DOL :(

Maybe there is a better method!

.dol work normally just not this one anyway I been playing 32x on Wii U with gamepad with Retroarch and just downloaded the Picodrive RPX file and it works I played doom, pitfall, Mortal Kombat 2 and few others all working fine however FPS was in the 40-60's game dependant Doom was 40's playable but audio seemed out
Mortal Kombat 2 fluid 60fps no issues
I do have more games to test though

I can try make it soon and test I will make with teconmoon

Picodrive Inject I just made built from the modded version that got shared not by the Libretro site

@SuperrSonic hope you don't mind this was used from your modded version to create the inject also testing it out now as not been tested on Wii U yet

https://mega.nz/folder/Q91VQaiT#JdCjlbU4FPvz36KKVZr6Xw

Don't install 32X emu it overwrites an emu I'm not sure which and blackscreens also won't install to NAND only on USB I have CBHC latest FW

TRY AT OWN RISK!!!

However there are Picodrive RPX files on Libretro so may work better

Thank you @danny19901 so this is the WiiU version :) Sorry didn't check earlier.
Great I'm going to test right now!

Edit : It installed fine to Wii U!
The picodrive thumbnail and the banner are really COOOL!
Btw, I could only use Wiimote. At the moment it can't detect Gamepad right? Thanks!

Edit 2: Only issue I found is that it resets sometimes (game : Cyber Brawl), and some occasional slowdowns

Did you install to NAND? it kept giving error for me on NAND but fine on USB but blackscreened on launch but I just found Moonlight Game Streaming is on Wii U so will use Retroarch on my PC to stream all my games to Wii U also PC has more cores

SuperrSonic updated his version of RA a few days ago, but from what I've seen the Picodrive version he's using seems to still be the one based on the non stable pre-release version that was first shared here, instead of the later stable one that performs surprisingly great.

In the mean time use the official release. Once that version gets adapted to his fork of RetroArch I'll again have no reason to use the official releases again, though. In fact, the picodrive core is the only one I have installed from the official release...

@MaeseJesus where I can get the latest version of PicoDrive 32x? and how I can configure arguments in the meta.xml for load automatically the 32X rom, because I want to make SEGA 32X Wii VC channels basing in that emulator?

Thanks

@SuperrSonic i've just got your RA-HEXAECO latest build (11-07-2021) and tried PicoDrive 32X emulator core with Knuckles' Chaotix and it works, but with slowdown.

I saw in official LibRetro's RetroArch Wii website and I saw that the PicoDrive Wii core is updated with no slowdown, but it doesn't have the functions you put in your builds.

Can you update that please?

Thanks for your great work @SuperrSonic :)

Will eck-eck now try 32X Emulation on Genesis Plus GX on the GC/Wii?
i don't think eke-eke implement 32X emulation on Genesis Plus GX for GC/Wii.
By now 32X emulation is still in progress, but only on PicoDrive emulator, because he isn't interested in it since it's too much work for him.

Is anyone else getting crackling audio when they use the latest Picodrive core? Or perhaps more usefully, does anyone have a Picodrive core that runs 32X well enough, without cracking audio?

All cores for RetroArch Wii since 1.9.1 official have the crackling audio problem, not just Picodrive. The crackling is very subtle and probably flew under the radar because of that.

I don't know if this problem is the same in the latest RA-HEXAECO builds but I would be interested to know.

I haven't noticed any audio problems using Hexaeco. Official RA is a hot mess disaster on Wii, other than PicoDrive there is no reason to bother with anything after 1.8.1 - 1.8.2. imo. Even the best RA releases are only needed for Cave Story and Game & Watch! FBA, CPS1, CPS-2, NEO are also top notch on 1.8.1 but Hexaeco covers everything Better. It is definitely one of those cases where newer is NOT better.

@RunningSnakes @ChiefReginod Thank-you both for letting me know everything I was hoping to find out!

I was only using the latest RA for Picodrive's 32x capabilities, and had erroneously assumed it was a Picodrive problem. After getting your response, I tried some other cores, and can see (hear) what you mean… the same audio issue is present regardless of core, and in every currently available build.

I'm personally stuck on 1.7.6, but it seems to be fine for what I use it for. I've heard 1.7.9 is more ideal, but I have no clue where to find it at this point.

In any case, guys, thank-you again for the thorough and informative response.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
