Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle here

I was afk from my switch for a while this year and haven't updated it. I saw that OFW 12.00+ was available so I do my usual update routine by going to sdsetup website and downloading all relevant files, then drag and drop them.

I was on OFW 8.1.0 on my switch but can't recall what the emunand was on. When I rebooted the Switch and tried to boot it into RCM mode, I keep getting dark screen after injecting the payload. I don't know what to do, please help!

What's the ideal firmware for atmosphere users?

12.1.0 or 12.0.3 are both fine at the moment.

Pushing what payload? Does tegrarcmgui give an error code? Also 'rcm'* not 'rcm mode', small nitpick.

Well, what do you mean error? I'm not getting any errors? I tried to use hekate_ctcaer_5.5.8.bin and fusee-primary.bin payloads. I just get a dark screen after it shows either hekate screen or the Atmosphère with each payload.

And after launching the payload, tegrarcmgui RCM show "No RCM" anymore when it goes to the dark screen.

Ok thats important info. Your original message made it sound like it was getting a black screen after pushing any payload, so i figured the issue was with pushing the payload, but the fact hekate runs means the issue is with your cfw setup. Are you sure your fusee primary file is up to date? You could try removing the atmosphere folder and putting a fresh copy and payload from atmospheres github on.

So, I can completely delete the WHOLE "atmosphere" folder in the root of the SD? Then download Atmosphère 0.19.5 and put the folder on the root again, as well download the "fusee-primary.bin" from the same github page of the Atmosphère 0.19.5 and replace them again?

BTW, is there multiple locations the fusee-primary.bin needs to be placed on the SD card?

Yes. As for the placement of fusee-primary, the answer is there is no set location for it. You can put it anywhere on the sd and point hekate to it, or you can not even put it on the sd card and just inject it from your pc/phone/dongle.

It is safe, but id still probably hold off unless you NEED to update it for some reason.

Theres often issues early on with some homebrew incompatibilities and the like, and no games are going to require 12.1.0 for a long time, so theres no reason to update until everythings been ironed out.

Now I can't seem the launch most games? I thought once I download the most recent Atmosphère, the sig patches are updated?

I even tried Homlet's sigpatches-updater, but it didn't fetch or want tp update anything for me.

Sigpatches dont come with atmosphere, youll have to get them separately

You need the prefix and six digits afterward, XAJ7 is your prefix to check.

The firmware version doesn't matter. If the Switch is unpatched (which it is according to https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-...he-first-post-before-asking-questions.481215/) then you can run CFW on it regardless of the firmware version.
