Hello, please tell me if this is the wrong method to ask help in this forum

I am following mr Rabbit youtube tutorial for quad booting the switch but I didn't understand completely because I am a newby. (I don't even have a switch, i have bought an unpatched switch on ebay just today and I am reading now tutorial on how to hack it).

  1. What is HOS?

  2. I understand we have to do a partition for android and one for linux but why a partition of emuMCC of just 29gb and a separate partition(HOS FAT32). For what I am guessing HOS FAT 32 is the space for the pirated/personally dumped switch games. Because if it was for me I would create an android partition, a linux partition and an Atmosphere partition with Atmosphere OS and all the switch roms.
  1. HOS is short for Horizon Operating System. Horizon is the name of the OS of the Switch similar to how Windows is an OS for most computers
  2. Well even if you only plan to use Atmosphere on your emuMMC, the files for Atmosphere itself still have to go somewhere on your SD card and they cannot be placed onto any of the partitions. That is the reason you will need a separate partition for that. There is also room for any legally purchased games that you plan to play on sysMMC which need to be allocated on this separate partition. So basically, there is no way around this separate HOS FAT32 partition

Ah ok now it is clear, thank a lot.
Last question , idk if is allowed on this forum to speak about piracy, in this case i will eliminate my comment immediatly.
In which partition should I put nsp roms of these 4? Because I have now understood there are 4: ubuntu, android, atmosphere and legally purchased partition.

Just checking back to report on my "failed to match warmboot" message error. It was indeed fixed by updating my emuMMC FW to 12.0.2 through Daybreak to match my sysMMC which is also on 12.0.2, thank you again @Draxzelex for your kind help. As of writing my Atmosphere is on 0.19.3/Hekate v5.5.6. Not sure this would be of any help to the other users here with similar issues, but thought I'd check back in in case it does.

Just to make it clear, discussion of piracy is allowed. Linking of any copyrighted material is not. Anyways, I don't fully understand your intentions with the word "put" so I will simply cover all bases. If by "put", you mean place on your SD card for installation purposes, then there is only one destination and that is the legally purchased partition. You cannot manually place any .NSP files in the emuMMC Atmosphere partition anyway but that isn't a concern as you can still install games to that partition even if the .NSP file is on a different partition. On the other hand, if by "put", you mean where to install .NSP files, then the answer becomes the emuMMC Atmosphere partition. One final note is that you do not need to place any .NSP files on your SD card in order to install them. There are methods to install .NSP files externally such as network and USB installation. One could even argue these methods are better than installing .NSP files from the SD card as those alternative methods skip the step of transferring the .NSP file to the SD card saving you time and the double-space dilemma.

Glad to hear that, mate. I'll try to update too.

EDIT: Seems 12.0.2 was finally uploaded to the recommended sources, will give it a go. @shurillu you should try too.

EDIT2: Can confim it works. The error message doesn't appear anymore and sleep mode works. Thanks for the help @Draxzelex .

Just bought a 64GB SD card for my Switch. Annoyingly, my Switch is the only device I have now that can read them. Is there a way to use the Switch to format the SD card correctly, since I can't use a PC to do it? I have a RCM capable device.

Nvm looks like the SD card came already exfat formatted. Even if it wasn't, tegrarcmgui -> memloader would have worked anyway.

Hi, back again...

My setup is very slow i need 4 min to boot to emunand.. Even if i boot everything is super slow and buggy....
Even some times i can't boot at ALL, stuck on black screen why ?

I formated the sd in fat32, got emunand via partition and still the same..
SD is tested and it's 90mo/s

Back in the SX OS emunand all was perfect no issue, now with atmosphere i am fucked up...

PS: Why i can"t launch games on fusee-secondary... It says they are corrupted..

Hey!

Quick Question: I'm just returning after a LONG time being away from my hacked switch (early 2019). I tried updating my firmware via Daybreak to 12.0.1 I believe. My SD card had been reformatted right before that as well. I pretty much nuked everything and copied over new Atmosphere and Hekate files. I can't get any installations of NSPs to take on this new firmware. I've tried DLing sigpatches and placing them in the appropriate folders, but I'm at a loss as to what I did wrong. I've tried Goldleaf from both Hekate and fusee, no luck. I've tried Tinfoil as well, but the HBG version of the install results in a corrupt NSP that won't boot. I'm not sure what to do.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks fellas

Did you use the latest version of Atmosphere (0.19.3) and Hekate (5.5.6) ?
What sigpatches did you use? Try these: Release Supports HOS firmware 12.0.2 and AMS 0.19.3 · ITotalJustice/patches · GitHub

So after fiddling around a bit, I recopied my sigpatches over. This seemed to work alright for some games I tried to install over Goldleaf via USB that mentioned they don't have tickets to be imported. For the other games that says they have tickets to be imported, the fail with a 2145 error on goldleaf. For reference, when I tried installing the latest hekate/atmosphere/Firmware, This was a few weeks ago, so my FW is 12.0.1 AMS 0. 19. 2, I have the 19. 2 sigpatches

I'd recommend using TinWoo Installer instead of Goldleaf as Goldleaf is arguably the worst title installer.

Decided to take the leap to Atmosphere. HOS firmware still at 4.1. Booting thru either SXOS/hekate/fusee-primary etc I get thru the Deepsea screen to main menu. then tapping AlBUM to launch Homebrew i get error code:2162-0002 (0X4a2). I'm sure theres a setting I'M missing but when installing I change nothing. NO content addons. any ideas.

If I finally get to Homebrew, since my firmware is 4.1 via Atmosphere, if I update to 12.02 while in atmosphere does that change my HOS to 12.02? I definitely want to stay on 4.1

I'm not saying its your fault but the issues you speak of don't seem related to Atmosphere. I have never ever seen anyone in my 3 years of the Switch scene see someone complain about Atmosphere being slow or buggy especially compared to SX OS. In fact, I've seen the same complains about SX OS being slow and buggy compared to Atmosphere. This means there must be something wrong with your setup that is not related to Atmosphere or SX OS such as your SD card. It might be worth verifying if it is real or not with a tool like FakeFlashTest. As for your games, you need patches which you can find on the pinned thread on this forum.

Try launching the homebrew menu by holding R over a game. Also Atmosphere doesn't replace HOS so firmware updates do not behave differently in CFW. I wouldn't necessarily recommend updating to firmware 12.0.2 as no games require that high of a firmware plus some homebrew applications do not work on that high of a firmware. A good firmware to be on now is anything on 11.X

holding R over a game has no effect. Only when I try to launch homebrew menu from ALBUM it then crashes. It will launch and play the game ok so its something to do with Atmosphere knowing where to jump to start Homebrew Menu.

Alright that is a bit concerning that launching R has no effect. Do you have an override_config.ini file in the /config_templates folder? If so, can you post it so I know if it is properly functioning?
