He is trolling you, the UK used to possess the Island of Ireland but that hasn't been the case for over a hundred years

The UK still has power in the 6 northern counties, but the rest of the island is a free and independent republic

That's also something Irish people don't agree on

They refer to the islands as Britain and Ireland, and when speaking of them jointly simply as "these isles" in all treaties

Calling them the "british isles" is a big no no in Ireland
