Hello,

As the title suggests, I have an old/exploitable/pre-2018 (or however you want to call it) unit that's been sitting in its dock for the past 2 years.

I have the SX Pro and it served me fine. I know there are meanwhile different solutions out there, but I'm not a fan of running multiple solutions for the same tasks. I'd like to stick with SXOS, since I already have it.

Now comes my question:
I did 'some' research and I am wondering which steps are required/recommended to get back on track?

First, I need to update my OFW to get compatibility for newer games. This I intend to do per AIO-Switch-Updater, as to not download directly from Ninty's servers, and install through DayBreak. However, this raises another question for me: Back in the day, CFW + Internet was a no-go. How is it safe now to go online through homebrew?

So other than getting my OFW updated, is there anything else I should get or do to my Switch?

If you use 90dns as DNS servers you should be safe to go online. That will block nintendo servers.
Alternatively you can download the firmware update from Darths website from a computer. You will have to Google it.
SX OS doesn't support firmware higher than 11.0.0 so don't upgrade higher than that.

I recommend that you setup EmuMMC for better protection against bans and bricks. I am not familiar with SX OS so I can't help you with that part though.

Thank you for your reply.

As for the online on Switch question, I did some more digging and found that SXOS now has a Stealth Mode, which blocks any connection to Nintendos servers. I see it comes enabled by default.

So that solves my issue about downloading/updating directly from the Switch.

Are there any other nice to have apps/mods that I should look into?

I've been mainly just playing games and tried some emulators, but I'd like to squeeze out every little bit out of my Switch, just to see what it is capable of.

Leaving it in the dock for 2 years will have worn out the battery to the point where in a year or so it's going to start going downhill very quickly, it's not recommended to keep lipo batteries at full charge.
SX OS hasn't been receiving any updates and it may never, as some of the team got busted and fined/jailed and the rest of the team are either laying low or have fled, so you may as well switch sooner rather than later, you don't have to run multiple solutions, you can stick to Atmo only and be just fine like many of us.
