I have a couple of Loopy controller boards I need to solder up. I looked at the images on the order page and my extension cable has a lot more wires. Just wondering how I should proceed. here's a pic of the cable. Thanks
interesting, but, just showing a picture with no context of what you actually are wanting to do with it dont help.

I think she is just talking about the extension cable that plugs into the 6 pin header.
She has 5 wires, the images here only use 3

But that makes sense. Two wires are gnd, so one is redundant, and one is +5V for rumble, which isn't used either, so you are left with 3.
Two have just been clipped off in the first picture. Second picture with pinouts shows which pin in the cable, to which pin on the controller mod board header. Only thing left to do is get a meter and find which colour cable corresponds to which pin in the gamecube socket (different cables tend to use different colours).

Thanks, yeah I know how to connect the controller board to the 3DS. But its connecting the gamecube extension cable to the controller board that I'm having trouble with.

I edited/updated the post. See if you can find someone to borrow from. Do you understand what I'm suggesting? Any voltmeter's gonna have a dial setting for checking continuity on it. You put one probe into contact with the connection inside a hole in the connector port on the extension cable, then touch the other probe to the wire ends you showed above until the needle jumps, showing that you just closed the circuit, i.e. continuity.
If you can't borrow one, like I said, Harbor Freight. It's also possible to do this with a battery, some wire, and a flashlight bulb, but more tedious. Think about it.
You'll find other uses for it if you keep tinkerin' and solderin'. Like adjusting the laser pot on a Gamecube. That's what I bought mine for, originally.
GC controller on 3DS? That's awesome. Especially since it feels like my hands have gotten too big for the normal 3DS (I don't have an XL)
