No, there does not seem to be an app or way to share 3ds photos over a non local wireless connection. This is probably because the photos are saved to the SD card, and it's a lot easier to just share photos trough other messaging or social media sites by taking the pictures out of the SD card and onto a computer.

There used to be a place on the Web Browser's default page where you could upload and view 3D photos on Nintendo's site, but they closed it a couple years ago.

There's also something, I think it's called Nintendo 3DS Image Share, which you'll find in the options list in the Home Menu (same place where you adjust the brightness, etc). I'm not sure how it works, never used it, but I think with certain games it lets you post screenshots to Twitter. It might work with photos.

Yeah, I just tried it and it doesn't appear to work. This is because Nintendo stopped supporting the ability to screenshot, since miiverse is shut down now, and that was the main use for screenshots. I don't know if there is another homebrew app that allows screenshots, but my guess is that Nintendo shut down the image share service along with the screenshots.

The Rosalina module built into Luma3DS can take screenshots. I think you press L + Down + Select (or maybe Start? I use it all the time but can't remember.) It's a bit slow; about 9 seconds on Old3DS and about 5 seconds on New3DS, plus longer if 3D is on.

NTR and HANS can both take screenshots faster than Rosalina, but I don't know their operational status with the latest CFW.

Edit: Taking a screenshot with Rosalina can, on rare occasions, freeze the console. It might only happen when 3D is on, but I can't verify. Just warning you, since I've lost Nintendo Badge Arcade winnings by trying to screenshot a lucky play. Wouldn't want that to happen to others.

  • It's SELECT
  • Actually, latest Luma versions have optimized the screenshot function. Now only takes less than 1 second (or a hundred miliseconds).
