Like mentioned before. They have skipped a minor update before. Who knows what they are thinking regarding this.
TX has never skipped compatibility updates before, and they have never waited this long to provide a compatibility update with no technological barriers (11.0.1 was a minor update, and Atmosphere has long since provided a compatibility update for them to copy).

The legal issues aren't that much of a problem or we wouldn't have had 11.0.
The legal issues are clearly a problem, and they appear to be causing more problems as time goes on (the failure of Stealth Mode, for example). Releasing an update for 11.0.0 is not at all indicative of whether they will release an update for 11.0.1.

The lack of an update for 11.0.1 this long after Nintendo released 11.0.1 is more telling than the past release of an update for 11.0.0.

It is true, that SX can always stop support for updates. But that has always been the case.
They were supporting new compatibility updates without the legal woes they have now.

just move to atmosphere like I did

I have a early switch which my son updated when I left it unattended one time, as an SXOS users, what steps should I take to switch over to atmosphere? I haven't looked into anything since hacking my switch and just running updates from within the menu so I am way out the loop.

  1. Download Atmosphere and fusee-primary, and put Atmosphere onto your SD card
  2. Download the latest signature patches and put them onto your SD card
  3. Boot the system using fusee-primary

Should they end support for SXOS, it sends a message to their customers about future product support....let's see.
That's why they rebranded after burning all their goodwill with their Gateway customers. Wonder what name they'll buy next. Once they're out of prison.

Didn't they do another 3DS card?

Anyway, as for OP? Atmosphere is the way to go rn. We might see an SXOS update, we might not. Hard to tell.

The biggest difference between 11.0 and 11.0.1 from SXOS side of things is the Tencent "No! Stop doing that" news. It might spelt the death of SXOS, but as someone siad before. It aint the first time they skipped a version.

If you rolled back from 11.0.1, then you're on 11.0.0 or lower, and you can use sxos again.
I indeed rolled back to 11.0.0 and SX OS works fine apart from a few games that seem to require 11.0.1 (my daughter is playing Minecraft and expects that I find a solution for her soon).

Going to 11.0.1 will prevent SX OS to run so it's no good for now.
She can play Minecraft oin the Xbox One but the NSW is easier to carry when traveling.

Crossing fingers that the SX OS team releases an update soon.

Unless they change their name for their next product, to start on a "clean" slate.. But people are so hungry to hack their consoles and go into piracy, even if they didn't change their name, if they come out with a piracy solution first, people will still buy it. Look at all those people trying to get a modchip for their Mariko, Lite or patched Switch console? They know future update status is uncertain, and they still want that modchip!

They need to find a factory to make them. I don't see them stop else.

I seriously want to switch to atmosphere but I use ftp a lot and I install nsp via usb so I'm afraid to change because these two functions look complicated to use in athmo :(

funny how atmos isn't in any trouble (facts are facts they circumvented security measures which is against the law from a DMCA standpoint cut and dry) and I'm pretty sure none of the devs are in any country the disregards copyright I don't see whats so different between the 2 beside the piracy for money thing, they can dance around the piracy issue all they want doesn't despute the facts

No Atmosphere doesn't circumvent it. Fusee Gelee does.

Atmosphere isn't made for running Piracy, SXOS is from the ground and even advertise for it.
