I was going to get a cheaper regular black n3dsxl, then I realized I'm not going to use it really for a while and shouldn't buy it as I'm tight on cash, so if I'm only going to buy 1 3ds in my life, later when I have more cash, and it's no rush. I'd want it to be good, are those dual ips n3dsxl really a big difference?

Actually it's more like 180 usd diff.

I have one of these and a bog standard N2DSXL. For the most part, no, the color differences are really minor. The major difference is that the IPS screens have much less motion blur (i.e. better response time), which is most noticable in dark sidescroller games. However this doesn't apply to too many retail 3DS games, and indie multiplats and homebrew emulators you could have a better time with on Vita anyway. So at $220 difference I'd buy the cheap 3DS soonish and if you end up wanting to play the kind of games I mentioned and get bothered by the blur, get a Vita or recent Chinese emulator handheld down the line.

Lol no, imagine paying extra to a scalper for the "privilege" of a certain case design and playing it sideways

Since money seems to be an issue, know that any *DS* console can likely be had (in working condition) for less than 50, maybe 60 American dollars, with some patience

I don't care about the design, just screen quality.

I got an old ds lite for less than that, but at least on ebay n3dsxl are about 100 usd and seem to go quick.

Thanks for the advice, I do plan to get a vita too, I'm too old to play full size consoles kind of, want all the portables decked out now to play older games without hassle lol.
