No, Xkey is very old and was discontinued many years ago. It was after cfw but for people who wanted to use an external hard drive. You'll also need an x360pro, those are also discontinued, all we have left are clones and they're expensive. RGH is the way to go these days, Aurora is the best replacement dashboard and Dashlaunch has so many extra features. A simple 1tb drive can copy your backup images within minutes and compatibility is 100%. Plus it'll be region free and you can use trainers and mods.

x360pro should not be needed, there are cheap SATA cards that are compatible (at least with most drives, maybe not the later models, I don't know much about those)
RGH does not really seem like an ODE alternative to me. It's a completely different type of hack and the install is much more complicated (some of those solder points are small)

find a jtaggable unit, you can still find xenon/zephyrs cheaply, though you'll pay $100usd+ for a falcon or jasper when one comes around

Oh, the sata card thing. Never found one that worked on a slim, we went through a dozen when I had access to a computer lab back then. If we were having this conversation 10 years ago I would agree but ODE is obsolete now. RGH only has one small point, CLK. This is the C point for the phat consoles with the matrix v3 chip. Or the D point with an Ace v3 on slim trinity consoles. Not sure about corona, haven't done one in a long time. Both have an alternate called FT4R2 on the underside of the board, it's very easy. Some people think PLL for the phat consoles is difficult but, I've never had an issue and there is an alternate somewhere in case it's fried.

rgh is difficult for those who don't have fine soldering skills, and use proper materials ( I use 30awg kynar wire/ROSIN flux for RGH install, soldering iron between 20-30w) , for me rgh is pretty straightforward i never found it difficult, just more wires to solder.

RGH is great so long as you don't want to do Live stuff, which is still very much a thing. Not to mention for people who don't know how to solder, doing an RGH is not a great way to start, especially not with the seemingly dwindling number of working 360 consoles.

But yeah, ODEs for the 360 are practically dead at this point. Your only option that I know of without an RGH or JTag is drive flashing, unfortunately.

ODDE's are very much alive, it's a perfect tool for those that want to play their backups on Live.
Granted it doesn't get updated anymore as much as it used to but MS almost stopped caring about the 360.

Same goes for RGH tbf, the homebrew scene is dead and the only updates are small patches supporting the latest kernel and dash.

OP, just go for an Xkey if you desire it.
You can play the latest games on the latest FW online.
If you patch your backups with ABGX that is.

I looked for an xkey on mod chip central. I didn’t see them listed. I guess my friend bought the last of what was left. I’m trying to flash his hitachi 78 drive and can’t get a good burn of the unlock bin or something.
I will share that this is the reason why I went with xkey. I have the usb pro v2 and to be honest, it would have been cheaper to just pay someone to flash for me but I wanted to learn how to do it. I would like to solder but my brother burned up two boards with the og box. So, it’s easy, if you have a shit iron and skills to accompany it, to screw it all up.

If you haven’t found an xkey, get your Xbox Jtagged or rgh’ed (depending upon what model you have). That way you can play home brew games, rip games to the hard drive, find more stuff online that will play (in essence it becomes region free).
In my search to find games online, I came across different regions and stuff that only works on a hard modded box. Online will soon be dead.

I’ve seen a few places that supposedly have them. One is the China connection. I’d probably avoid that one. I did one a couple of days ago. Some things to think about: the defender virus updates like to mess with you. I had my update zipped. I unzipped it and the files were deleted. I made changes in the program and was able to download to memory card. When I looked it was fine, by the time I ejected the files deleted and when I inserted the flash drive to update the files I got E64 error. In the beginning it takes awhile before it will recognize the drive. A lot of people have had this issue. Once it gets working though, it’s fine.

You will just need a new .cfg file and put that on your hdd. That new .cfg will be installed to the xk3y. Go here for more help. :)

I updated to 2.01-4 which supposedly removes limits on drive size. I needed to though because I left hard drive plugged in for hours on different occasions and each time would not recognize. As soon as I put the good update in, it quickly worked.
