A few weeks ago I bricked my unmodded Wii U. After it had trouble starting Hyrule Warriors (because of a "memory error"), I deleted and redownloaded the game. This took a very long time and at some point, after the progress bar hadn't moved for 30 minutes, I stopped the installation by clicking "back to menu". The console ensured it would continue the installation once I'd try to start the software and promptly crashed afterwards, so I killed it a minute later by holding the power button.
Since then I haven't been able to boot my Wii U at all. After pressing the power button I see and hear the normal startup sequence but after 20 seconds of showing the Wii U logo it just stops and the gamepad loses connection. Nothing is connected to the console and no disk is inserted. Quick start isn't available either so I can't boot directly into the settings. This is 100% reproducible and it stops at the same point each time, so I assume the boot data is corrupted.
Apparently this is pretty much the "don't turn off your console during the update" issue which doesn't seem to be solvable without sending in the console for the usual fee. I just contacted customer support and they said the same thing. But I was wondering if there is a way to recover it by installing a modchip or replacing the NAND chip. Because my console is unmodded, I don't have a NAND backup either.
Does anyone have an idea what else I could try?
