Very likely, yes.
Everyone will be disappointed because they’re all expecting way too much (4K 60fps, etc) when in reality the device is using the same t210b01 SOC being used in current hardware.

So the latest is that it will be a 4k 60fps home console, which is a shame. Though con only imagine the battery life on the handheld

A Nintendo console running at 4K and 60fps? They haven't even been able to make it run at 1080p/60.

Not to mention the audio is compressed.

No way it's gonna use the same soc. I know they like releasing gimped consoles but come on.

SO the third iteration of the switch will again be non switchable....
All that the newer revision has is a better battery, otherwise it's more or less identical to the launch one. I'd say, just leave as is, it's not as if there's anything wrong with it.

The successor of the Switch will definitely need to be far better. I wouldn't mind the name "Super Switch" (as a reference to the SNES), but then folks on the web would make jokes about it being the Nintendo SS. lmao

Well it does, but, with t210b01/Mariko they would be able to double the clockspeeds in both docked and handheld while still using less power than the OG Switch in handheld in both modes. Which would be a fairly decent upgrade imo, they can't really possibly do much more.

It will be, with solid output at 1080p.

More than that and you will have to carry a power bank with you, because the battery will last less that the GameGear's batteries.
More than that, and it's unrealistic. No games are even near needing a better CPU and resolution.

Make the next Switch able to output 1080p/60 plugged to a TV and everyone will loose their minds. As long as the games are properly built to support the docked/undocked resolution, everything will be fine.

I wouldn't mind if Nintendo went back to using discs if it meant offering the games in high quality while the cards are expensive, so.. publishers tend to cheapen out by releasing most of the game's content via a digital update.

Maybe "Mini Blu-rays" by Nintendo.

I'm my experience reading gaming News and rumours over the years, when something is rumoured a lot and published by major publications (Bloomberg etc) they tend to be true. Nintendo already has a low-end skew with the Lite, and given how underpowered the Switch is relative to PS4 and Xbox One, this new console generation will make it even more dreadful for developers to port their games over, and even then, they won't run very well. Heck, just about every ambitious Switch port runs like ass already.

Furthermore, Nintendo knows there are those among us that are hoping for a more powerful system with a better display and better cooling system. There's a place for it.
