So I got a Switch tablet and nothing else, because I still had the dock, Pro Controller, cables and whatnot from the previous one I had, minus the Joy-Cons (because those were attached to the tablet I had previously, when it was stolen). Imagine my dismay when I turn it on, and it immediately requests for the non-existent Joy-Cons to be attached before proceeding.
So I did some digging. Was it possible to bypass this somehow?
Well, no. Not really. Not unless the Switch is somehow already hacked. Which this one isn't, YET.
And it seems you cannot use anything BUT an official pair of Nintendo Joy-Cons. Yeah, seems even the licensed Hori (left-side only, WTF?) ones don't work. You can't even use an official Pro Controller, plugged into the dock.
Which wouldn't be a major issue for me, really, IF.... the official Nintendo Joy-Cons were actually in stock anywhere. Most of them are on back order, as it is.
So what are my options here? It IS a hackable model, but I'm not sure how to proceed without Joy-Cons regardless.
