Hacking Help needed 3ds XL incorrect / unfinished cfw installed

Hello
I need a little help or may be alot. I got my hands on old n3ds xl. Problem is that it wont run without sd card inserted in it. From what i gathered that previous owner tried to hack it and failed during the process or left it midways. Now i cant update it nor it will run with sd card removed.

Is there a way to restore it to factory settings. I only have sd card with data, sky3ds blue r4 rts lite.
Sky3ds can run games but r4 gives error problem occured. Picture of sd card data attached. Thanks in advance.

If it has A9LH installed do the A9LH update to B9S, if it doesn't install B9S from scratch. Power on the 3DS while holding down the select button, if it says 7.0.5 or below you are on A9LH.

No. The steps in that post does not erase your user step. All it does is determine whether you have an older/outdated A9LH or B9S custom firmware. Depending what you have, you then upgrade/update to the latest setup (boot9strap v1.3 , Luma3DS v10.2 , GodMode9 v1.9.1 , Sys 11.18.0-45[J/U/E/C/K/T] firmware).

Factory resetting the 3DS system or Format System Memory is one of the dumbest advices to give out or follow when fixing the custom firmware, 3DS firmware, or failure to boot to HOME Menu issues. Anyone who tells someone to do this is either intentionally malicious or ignorant to the fact that'll permanently delete that other person's Nintendo 3DS folder (games, dlcs, updates, extdata, saves) and their private system titles' savedata (Friend List, Friend Code, Miis, Activity Log, Notes, NNID, etc).

i tried your steps, now 3ds blue light blinks for 1 to 2 seconds during power up and nothing happens.
Is there no way to factory reset it? i just want to get rid of old 3ds and buy new one.

again. A factory format is the most stupid thing you can do right now to try and fix this. I dont get why people think its the best thing to do. What boot.firm file do you have on the sd card root?

Same one you mention on ur post above.
I asked previous owner and he siad he tried to install cfw but during the process error occurred and now 3ds wont start if sd card is not present with files mentioned in above screenshots. He was never able to run cfw on his 3ds.

Its safeb9installer .0.7 rebamed as boot.firm
Only two files are present on 3ds sd card luma and b9installer

is luma a zip file or a boot.firm file on the sd card?

Luma is arm9loader.bin and b9installer is boot.firm
