Hope to see top to bottom vertical in option on the next update for the Flip-Grip
Also gyro motion is missing for Yoshi's New Island in World 1-2

I have to admit I didn’t think horizon would be the best form of emulation for Citra.
From what I can see this runs far better than Android, and I Imagine L4T if it comes. Very impressive fps so far .

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I can’t believe how well citra runs on Horizon atm!! Especially with how poorly it does on Android. I wonder how an L4T core would compare? At any rate amazing stuff, I honestly didn’t ever expect any emulation on Horizon to outstrip the dualboot options, but this hands down beats the lineage version. Amazing for such an early build too ;p.

I think the android version of the switch is a watered down android OS where you will find on a cheap android box. I know Citra for my Galaxy S10 plays like 90% games fine at full speed I'm quite impressed honestly Switch Horizon doesn't work well ATM it is kinda unplayable (some games will work most won't) it is best wait for the official release (whenever that may be) .

I started to do Android on the switch but what is the point it is no USB support and the OS is outdated. I rather use my Galaxy S10 ot Tab S4 for better performance.

I have had pretty positive results with other emulators/ certain dolphin builds/dreamcast emulation, n64 supports hi-res texture packs and run full speed, and playstation has a dynarec core, which is still non existent at on the switch to my knowledge.
Ive transfered multiple files through USB with an an app, so can assure you that is possible while docked. But I agree it is outdated :P. I should mention that most modern day androids are also a fair bit more powerful than the switch(which im sure you know :P). Its GPU holds up well, but the CPU just doesnt compete.

Lineage OS is probably one of the best android implementations you can find, it's not only constantly updated but they also fix a lot of kinks and bugs out of AOSP, so much upstream Android will pick these changes every now and then (I even use Lineage OS in my phone for privacy and security reasons). Just because chinese android box manufacturers do a halfassed job into porting Lineage OS or even AOSP into their devices this don't make AOSP or Lineage OS bad systems but make these manufacturers bad at porting. Same thing for the switch, if they didn't port it right, it won't squeeze the power from the system.

know Citra for my Galaxy S10 plays like 90% games
Galaxy S10 is extremely more powerful than a Switch, it's not even close. Snapdragon 855 is a monster of a SOC, differences goes from 60% faster to 240%, depending on the task. https://gadgetversus.com/processor/nvidia-tegra-x1-t210-vs-qualcomm-sm8150-snapdragon-855/

Hey guys, how are you all playing this. Did everyone get into the beta or is it all through patreon? If so what tier do you need to be?

I just spent a bunch of time last night setting up android to try and run 3ds games and most games would barely open, audio was all choppy and unplayable. It seems Nintendo OS is actually better for this? Would love to get it set up and give it a try.

Also, how would one run sys modules in SX OS to OC the gpu as I saw mentioned throughout the thread? I know the newest version a lot of those sys modules seem to be working now but I have not actually used them before. Would love to get this up and running on my switch.

Well, some people are beta tester through Patreon and some are leak somewhere. It is still in Beta so don't waste your time on it, thought. Some works great and most are slow and some are unplayable. Just wait for actually release version. He is still working on it.

I have been testing the 3DS Citra emulator on L4T Lineage OS, both the official version found in PlaysTore and another unofficial one with other characteristics, and these were my results:

The official verison of the PlayStore runs wonderfully. I had about 60fps of emulation.

The unofficial version is also great, and even with x4 improvement it does not suffer any fall. It generates a lot of heat and the fan is on full blast, the console may even turn off.

Official version: 720p-60fps
Unofficial version: 4K (max) -30fps

Pro:
You can play in dock mode at 1080-60fps for the official version, and 4k-30fps for the unofficial version.

Unfortunately he suffers from many frame drops when reading the game. It is one of the great disadvantages of using a MicroSD that OS and Storage are working on. If there was a way to load the game from an external connection, for example, allowing the Dock Mode USB ports to be used to connect a USB Memory (Flash-HDD-SSD), this drop of frames could be avoided and the game would run perfectly .

Because LineageOS has issues with controller sticks, the analog stick works like a Pad, it feels really ugly to play in Dock mode. You will have to try another controller via Bluetooth.

I tried Citra from the playstore running Android and I could not get anything to boot up. I was in performance mode in the settings under battery and tried playing the 3 Zelda 3ds games and they were all extremely slow and I had trouble making it past the title screen. Don't know what I might be doing to have such a different experience. That is why I wanted to try the Horizon Retroarch version as people seemed to be saying it runs better than the Android one, but then you are talking about playing in 1080p and 4k on the Android one so I don't know...

No.. What kind of smartphone do you use ? I am using Samsung 9S and some games run better and some are slow and some are unplayable. Remember, a person is still working on it for Switch version because it is only beta. For Android, that's different. Citra team are still working very hard for Android.

Can you explain how your getting 60fps? Last time i ran citra on switch games were outright unplayable. Weaker games were running at 20% speed. This seems about the same result Ive seen from every other lineage user that has run Citra except for you. So if you have some hidden setup to increase performance by 400% please share :P.

That's very true but, does a phone NEED a snapdragon 855? Of course not. No app or game will require shit like that. The maximum you'll need for a decent experience in most apps (MOST, not all) is a 630. Phones like that are expensive af because of unnecessary shit like that. Also OK 3 CAMERAS
WHY 3 CAMERAS
4 CAMERAS
WHAT THE FUCK
(This wasn't targeted at ya, it's more of a rant than anything.)

That's not my point at all. My point is that it's obvious Galaxy S10 will do emulation well on Android, it's the best SOC from the most popular manufacturer. If these chips are needed or not, it's just opinions that don't really make any sense to discus in a thread like this. If you don't like flagships just don't buy them, I don't, I'm pretty happy with my cheap phones and really don't see a need for a 1000 bux phones for me, others may see for themselves: different people, different needs, the market will have options for anyone most of the time.

I will upload two videos testing the official version and the unofficial version. Until then I will share the repository.

Another important fact. Using x4 mode is not recommended, as the console shuts down due to overheating. In these cases you are forced to do a Hardmod to improve the dissipation.
