So I have RetroArch installed on both my phone and my Nintendo Wii. I wanted to play some of the light gun games for the Super Nintendo, as I had never done so before, so I got a couple games so that I could play them on my Wii using the Wii Remote to emulate the Super Scope.

As a test, I tried booting up these games on my phone to make sure that they were working before I put them on my Wii's SD card. I wasn't able to get the touchscreen light gun controls working, but the actual games themselves ran fine.

However, once I put the games onto my Wii, I encountered a problem with the game "Super Scope 6". Whenever I try running it, it doesn't show anything on screen. It doesn't crash the system as I'm still able to go back to the RetroArch menu by pressing the Home button, but the game doesn't load for some reason. This is really strange and I'm not sure what the issue is.

I don't think it has anything to do with the Wii either, since I was able to load and play the other game I had, "Yoshi's Safari", with no problems at all. Maybe certain games aren't compatible with certain versions of RetroArch? I have no clue.

I have not tried out any light gun games with SNES9x GX, I can't even get it or FCE Ultra GX to boot up anymore for some odd reason. Even if I could, I personally would rather use RetroArch due to the higher amount of options/customizable features. SNES9x GX isn't bad, it's just not my perferred method of playing these games.

However, I recently managed to get the game working in RetroArch, so all is well and there's no longer an issue.

I'm having performance issues with Snes9x on Retroarch. Very noticeable in Yoshi's Island.
Which RA version and .dol are you using?

I believe I'm using the latest version of RetroArch for Wii, using a specialized .dol file made for Super Scope/light gun games. Although I think Yoshi's Island is one of those games that doesn't emulate 100% well on lower end devices, so perhaps that's the issue? I wouldn't know for sure though since I haven't played Yoshi's Island on an emulator in a good while.

Rx, man.

The lack of autoresolutions in RA was one of the first things that annoyed me more than 10 years ago, so the high amount of "customization" ended up being the first thing that bothered me, that and the easiness of borking the config file and having to start from zero... ugh.

The thing with Retroarch is the performance with special chip games leaves a lot to be desired, that will never change, hence the reason i made the fork years ago. Glad you solved your lightgun problem.

Ah, that's understandable. I'm not all too familiar with what auto resolutions are so that personally doesn't bother me much.

As for the RX fork, I would love to try it out, but for some reason whenever I boot up the standalone emulators they don't work. I tried downloading the FCE Ultra GX emulator (specifically the "1-Up" mod), but it would just crash my Wii.

But I do like and appreciate all the work and effort you have put into SNES9x RX (I really like the menu skins as well) and I'd like to see what other cool features you'd be able to add. :)

Weird problem. All i can think of would be asking if your Homebrew Channel is the latest version (and using IOS 58, which you can check by pressing +), just to discard. I know really old versions of it had problems with new homebrew (black screens, for example).

I think it's the newest version, it says I have version 1.1.2. The HBC page on WiiBrew doesn't mention any higher version number than that. And I do have IOS 58 v24.32.

Yep, that's the last official one, coupled with IOS 58, it's good. I'm using 1.1.4, but only because i use a Wii U Pro controller almost 99% of the time.

Your case reminds me of a friend currently having code dumps with certain games on the PS1 emulator, while i have the same emulator version and the same game, and they work perfectly. He even switched SD cards, still the same problem.

That's really weird. Maybe I'm just being an idiot and downloading bad versions by mistake. I'll try downloading and installing RX again tomorrow to see if anything changes. This time I'll be downloading it from the link in your thread.

Hi again, recently I tried reinstalling your SNES9x RX fork, and unfortunately it still won't boot up. Your FCE Ultra RX fork, however, was able to boot up, and I like it so far. I have a few questions though:

1. Why are the games so quiet? Is there any way to fix this? Also, I have the menu music and sound effects on 100% yet I can't hear them.

2. I like all the different color palletes, however is there a way that you could maybe add the original Virtual Console pallete? (I know that there's a restored pallete, but personally I prefer the darker colors)

Though you're the only one case i know has that weird problem, i would love to study your NAND someday, lol. There is something in your mod that makes that unique conflict, even if you do not specify other useful things like what other devices have you tested in your specific console.

Can't say for sure, i even use some generic speakers and they do sound pretty loud. Even on my LCD TV. I use it and make tests on 3 different consoles.

100% music and sound effects have nothing to do with in-game audio, btw. That only affects the menu.

I have been slowly resuming work on FCEURX given that Snes9xRX is pretty much in the state i wanted years ago, so that will be coming, sure.

Yeah it's really odd. And sometimes even some apps that have been installed for months and have been working fine, such as WiiXplorer, end up not working after a while. Maybe it's my SD card that's the problem? I've had it since 2011 or so, so maybe it's just nearing the end of its life span.

Huh, strange. The games are very quiet for me. And yes I know the music/sfx options in the menu only applies to the menu, but I thought I'd memtion it since I hear no sfx or music in the menu despite having them turned up all the way. A few months back when I had the regular version of FCE Ultra GX, I remember whenever I would press Home, there would be a woosh sound. I don't hear anything in the RX fork.

Thank you, I appreciate it very much :)

This is why it is so important to be specific :D. Okey, so now i know what your problem is: back in those releases, i think i still had the sound and music disabled to save memory for the Gamecube port. You will definitely won't hear anything on the menus.

Yeah I realized after I posted that reply that I worded things kinda funny, sorry for the confusion.

Ah, that would make sense. Thank you for the clarification
