I can jig into RCM ONLY when the microsd card is not inserted in the switch. Is that normal?

Secondly I am trying to backup my SYSNAND using Hekate 5.2.1 and under "Tools" all I see is an option for AutoRCM. How do you backup SYSNAND using Hekate? In older versions there was an option to backup SYSNAND under TOOLS

Thirdly, how do I even launch a CFW? I have the SD card setup properly following the sdsetup website and a few internet tutorials (which I cannot link here as I am brand new). However when I try to launch using Hekate I get the error "EmuMMC is forced but not enabled". How can I launch CFW?

This shouldn't be possible.

You should be able to backup your NAND under tools. You need a mounted SD card for those backup tools to appear.

  1. Make sure the SD card is FAT32.
  2. Remove all CFW files/folders from your SD card (that would be folders like /sept/ and /atmosphere/)
  3. Download the latest Atmosphere
  4. Download the latest fusee-primary (next to Atmosphere)
  5. Download these signature patches
  6. Put Atmosphere and the signature patches onto your SD card
  7. Put the SD into your Switch
  8. Enter RCM
  9. Launch Atmosphere using fusee-primary

This shouldn't be possible.

I followed your advice; I see the atmosphere splash screen and then... Tegra tells me "RCM Lost" and the Switch boots into its official interface.

I am having the same issue with Hekate as well. What am I missing here? (At first I thought it was was the JIG so I am trying the aluminium foil method; same problem),

You're probably in Atmosphere then. It looks nearly indistinguishable from the stock system OS. Check the system settings for your full version string, or try opening the Album to launch the Homebrew Launcher.
