Good morning, evening or even night.

I just got my R4i + 3DS/DS today and plan it to use it solely for playing NDS games on my 3DS and DSi (optional). I do not plan to modify my 3DS firmware/kernel.

I haven't been following the scene since at least 10 years and am a little bit overwhelmed with all the information about which firmware to use.
On their website there is the WOODR4 1.64 kernel. It is from 2013 however. Should I use this one? Or are there better alternatives since then?

Thank you for your help

The one there is pretty much the only thing you need, aside from a newer cheat database if you plan to use cheats. Stick with it as there haven't been any new alternatives as far as I know.
