Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

Maybe a mishmash build of 2002 with remaps from 2005 would work?
Also, I can’t even get PS1 games to run well. I’m using CHD roms and tweaking all the settings towards “fast, looks shitty but it’s ok” and it only hits 30fps or above if I’m LUCKY.
How do I do it?
Maybe your bios then? Not sure. Or maybe you have a slow SD card? I take it you have all the right settings set? Like resampler audio quality lowest in settings, audio sync instead of vsync.
 
Is it class 10? U 1/2/3? UHS mark I/II/III?

since I can't find sd express speed micro sd cards anywhere I assume they aren't actually out yet
I can't tell if the fastest ones are v90 or mark III tho

I see then maybe that is your problem (maybe!). I think mine is UHS3 32GBs.
 
Lucky you- I can't seem to find UHS III anywhere. I can find UHS II mark II, and V90 (which is probably the fastest anyway) but not III.
It wouldn't make a difference. Mine isn't even UHS at all and runs just fine. Maybe take your data off and format with Panasonics GUIFormat utility with a smaller cluster size?
 
Im pretty sure the 3ds itself throttles the sd cards to like a class 4 or 6 bc ninty didn't feel it was needed to get top the line speeds. Ive got some the best sd cards and if you want full speed of them, you need something made to use that class. like brand new top of the line digital cameras.

well then what do I do? how do I run ps1 full speed like everyone else is saying is possible when it only maybe hits half that??

What I remember from testing is that class 6 is where the DSi caps. Not sure if the 3DS is just as slow. Also don't forget that both read and write speeds count ofc.

Not sure what your problem is if you've made sure all the bios etc stuff is fixed. Have you tried Sakitoshi's injector? It might rule out some errors.

I might try the injector but I'd rather just access it from retroarch
on an unrelated note, for multiplayer purposes, what's the best (free) program on pc to remap a controller? I basically just want it so that while it's connected to the pc and the program is up, my second controller has the player 2 controls in the right spots (left stick behaves as right stick, which behaves as dpad in game, etc).

I'm recommending the injector because it'll make sure you have all the settings right for you. This way you rule out a lot of problems. If it works well with the injector you can rule out your SD card being the cause etc..

should I do the same?
and more importantly, will it work if I literally just copy the data to my pc, format with smol cluster size and copy back?

just googled and it appears that changing cluster size for something like the 3ds might fudge things up badly. is it safe to do so or might things go awry with my data?

If you have it backed up on your pc you can always put the data back on the SD card if it doesn't work. Usually you want 32kb cluster size for homebrew stuff though.

Also yes you can just copy the stuff to your pc (which is what you should do), format it and copy it back.

I tested it out by formatting with 1kb cluster size with my old 3ds and it froze
I even tried powering it on with the card it usually has in it, taking it out, putting in the formatted one (which has the exact same data) and it would just freeze again
thankfully I have a free partition assistant thing so I can just format it with 32kb size

I know how formatting works. (I don't use GUIformat, but I use something that works just as well and does all the crud anyway.)
32kb is what the normal one is at, which can't run PS1 well to save its life.
