By Sysnand, you mean boot into RCM, inject Hekate, and then launch into the first one, which is sysnand? and just use a cart to play is fine?
Yes, there should be an option to boot Stock (SysNAND). Never boot with CFW to SysNAND if you want to play legit games online.

Question, so the idea of using emunand is to run the switch off the sd card instead of system memory so that you can update the console (on sd card) and leave system at a low version? When booted off an sd card with emunand setup, do you just update normally or you HAVE to use ChoiDejourNX to do it?
Yes, you can have different firmwares on SysNAND and EmuNAND. Theoretically, you can update EmuNAND also with official update but it's highly recommended to update it with ChoiDujourNX if you have homebrew or unlegit games installed. Else you risk a ban.

super n00b here.. what parts of all these terms/tools do i care about if only want to dual boot Ubuntu L4T. things i think i have identified looking at the homebrew guide, which doesn't talk too much about this use case vs others.. that i could pick up on anyway

- hekate - this is the injected bootloader that will in turn boot Linux payload. this process is "chain-linking" ?
- sysnand - the original software, whicj i wont be touching.
- emunand - not applicable.. i think..
- seems like i can also ignore: atmosphere, tinfoil, etc as also not using that

and 2nd question.. i am hoping to do this on a lite once the sx chip mod ship. what do people expect will be the challenges getting L4T to run? seems like 90% of drivers will be the same but guessing the way the joycons connect would be the big difference?

Hey guys,
i have a switch here from a friend, already with Atmosphere and on 9.0.1.
Somehow i cant launch Atmosphere from Kosmos anymore. It throws me back to the launch menu. Does anyone know what the problem could be? It blackscreened when i tried to install a couple things. Since then, i cant accept the CFW anymore.
PLS help

Hi, I also have a newb problem:
first:
Clean sysnand on 9.2.0
emuMMC 8.1.0 or below (sry I dont know exactly, didnt need to update FW in a long while and cant check now) which is full (so no fake sd card!) of games I dont want to loose.
im on the latest ams version from kosmos

Im running linux (deb) just to get away from windows and last time I tried to unmount my msd card (idle), it gave a message that it shouldnt be disconnected, because its still transferring data. I tried 2 times in intervervals of like 10 minutes and it said the same, then I just disconnected the drive.:/
now, when I try to boot emuMMC I get:
Unkown pkg1 version. Is emuMMC corrupt? Or not yet supported HOS version!
I googled around but I cant seem to find anything that helps. In hekate, when I go to emuMMC/migrate emuMMC to repair it it says: no emuMMC or foreign emunand found!
linux repair tools said something about a missing superbit, but idk it didnt seem like a similar problem.
Can someone help me? it would even be appreciated to get new phrases to google.

Have you tried reinstalling the cosmos package?

Alrighty thanks! If I'm booted off emuNAND, do I just run through ChoiDujourNX normally or is there some kind of emuNAND update option?

Also, can you play online while using 90DNS? Thanks for all your help! Appreciate it.

No, simply start ChoiDujourNX like you would on SysNAND.
No, you can't play online with 90DNS since it blocks Nintendo servers.

Hello, fairly new at this and got some questions mainly based around burning fuses.. Currently I have my EmuNAND and SysNAND both at 8.0.1 following a guide - I heard it maybe worth trying to not burn fuses at that firmware? but would like to play online and not get banned. Questions are based on what I understand currently..
1. Fuses are burnt when you don't enter RCM - so if turning on I see the Nintendo logo they are burnt? This only applies if not in sleep mode and turned off, but to switch between NANDs I'd have to reboot and RCM > payload to prevent burn?
2. The above also means that to play online I would have always have to RCM > hekate > Stock SysNAND each time to prevent burn?
3. What's the best way to update SysNAND without burning fuses or ban? I've only read about 2 methods, but have concerns.
3a. Boot hekate > Stock SysNAND and update normally using official servers, insert jig before reboot, AutoRCM is reset so hold + to get into RCM > hekate, enable AutoRCM. If my jig doesn't work then the fuses are burnt, is there a way to test my jig in AutoRCM?
3b. Boot hekate > CFW SysNAND and update through ChoiDujourNX. Is this safe to do if only ChoiDujourNX is used - anything done previously in EmuNAND or stored on SD card also shouldn't dirty the SysNAND? Wouldn't Nintendo be able to detect that their servers were never connected to and suddenly you're on a new firmware?
4. How would you boot CFW SysNAND offline? Do it in RCM > hekate > Stock SysNAND first?

Should I just not bother and let the fuses get burnt? Thanks for your time.

Howdy, I'm having an issue with consistent ingame crashes after updating my Switch to version 10.0.0.

I did a clean update of Atmosphere (deleting relevant folders first) and I'm using the latest Hekate, with AutoRCM enabled.

Now after anywhere from 5-10 minutes ingame I'm getting crashes; "The software was closed because an error occurred."

This is only happening in "heavier" games like Animal Crossing and Zelda BOTW, I can play Tetris 99 all I want with no error. For reference, Animal Crossing is on cartridge, Zelda BOTW and Tetris 99 are downloaded.

(My SD is formatted as exFAT, as I type this I'm backing up everything on it to reformat as FAT32, but I never had issues like this before updating so I'm unsure it's a corruption problem.)
This issue is because you are using exFAT. exFAT is widely known to corrupt your SD card. Switch to using FAT32.

Is there any recent guide on how to make your own themes for the switch?

How is the SD card formatted? And what version of Kosmos are you using?

what folders i need to delete when updating atmosphere? just the atmosphere one or is it any other required?
Just wipe the SD card except for the switch and Nintendo folders.

is there any point for me to start Emunand now even tho Im already doing everything in sysnand 9.2.0?
emuMMC can act as a brick shield or a way to be on a higher without burning fuses and using AutoRCM.

  1. Yes, if you see the Nintendo logo when you turn on the console normally, the fuses are toast. You cannot boot into emuMMC without a payload so the only risk for burning fuses is when you boot into sysMMC.
  2. Correct
  3. You cannot test your jig if AutoRCM is enabled. ChoiDujourNX is also not necessarily safe as that introduces the usage of both CFW & homebrew increasing the ban risk. A third method you did not list is installing the system update offline in CFW because CFW prevents AutoRCM from being removed during system updates.
  4. Yes, you would have to boot into sysMMC Stock then remove the Wi-Fi settings in order for you to boot into sysMMC CFW offline

New generation of switch needs hardmod (SX OS Core). Will release soon. Right now it's not possible to hack.

Sorry i was mistaken its not kosmos its just hekate. So the Switch is on 9.0.1 and hekate on v5.0.2, the sd-card is exFat.
I already tried to renew the files a couple of times, even try the newer hekate version, nothing worked. I didnt want to format the sdcard cause i dont know exactly if it will work and if the save files work afterwards.

The problem is most likely due to exFAT as it can corrupt your SD card. Reformat it to FAT32. Also, save files are stored in the console and not on the SD card.
