Homebrew Best Homebrew Games?

I have some spare space on my SD and my Wii has cIOS and IOS up to date!
Can you recommend me good Homebrew games for the wii?
I wanted to play Doom using Retroarch's PrBoom core and Doom wads... but it didn't work.

Please... recommend me Homebrew games and I would also like to know how to play Doom on my Wii... I have never played it before in my life.

Some of the stuff is really old and might not work with the new wiimotion+ controller because they need to be recompiled. if you get stuck just reset your console by holding down the power button for 5 seconds.

I've downloaded and setup four different zip files for SMW from various locations, and they all do the same thing; credit screen loads and then freezes. They all say "April Fools Edition" which makes me wonder if this is the joke!

Which version have you successfully installed? I don't want to assume the latest version is the best (I've found that's not always the case). Thank you for the link! My Spanish is a bit rusty, but I'll try registering...

Some years ago, around 2016 I was playing the April Fools version just fine if my memory doesn't fail me.
But after realizing that I had to use the Wiimote I uninstalled that game until just now.
I've downloaded Mario War again from that site, they always has the latest version in their servers.

Again, you still need to register in order to download.

I find one of the most promising not-fully-released-yet homebrew for Wii/Gamecube is BatteryCheck by @Archerite . That would give us access to both Battery Check and Jazz Jackrabbit.

NewoEscape and NewoAsteroids look great and play very good, both by newo.

Other recent awesome updates, are the ones mostly related to game engines:
- WiiDoom, WiiROTT, WiiHERETIC, WiiHEXEN and the newly released WiiHEXEN2, all by nitr8.
- Heart of Darkness by gmontoir.
- Cannonball by wuerfel_21 / djyt.
