There is an Arm distro of Windows 10, but even that doesnt work so well.. its Windows, it needs drivers -- dont get me wrong there should be an ARM/IoT build that will be a good launching point.

so i think i found where the fellow left off

https://github.com/imbushuo/NintendoSwitchPkg

I also noticed an arm build booting on a raspberry pi. Personally I disagree with all the naysayers. I would fish around for something that is booting on one of the tablets that is similar to a switch and see how it goes. From there use the above link to attempt to compile driver. Go go go!

That looks awesome! Does it have touchscreen & controller support though?

naw if you check out the git he mentions an issue with joycons. But that makes perfect sense. We have that issue in android. So methinks you just work on getting dock going which should be feasible then just use an xbox controller or ps3 pad etc. I really don't think this is such a pipe dream. Let's see what op comes up with.

Last i overheard about an attempt on the ARM version, its lacking alot of driver support and boots to blue screen after installation (while the switch can be seen as an Nvidia shield just kneecapped in both ram (its speed and capacity) and CPU Clock speeds (to conserve on battery life and heat output) =/= being on par and being 1:1 driver compliant (and that'd be assuming there WAS drivers in Windows 10ARM for the 2015 and 2017 Shield..

Primarily to be even remotely usable a GPU Driver for the Tegra X1 SoC, Wireless Hardware (wifi and bluetooth), a Serial Driver (so that joycons connected on the rails can communicate) USB Drivers (that allow for USB-C to HDMI Passthru when docked/USB OTG for handheld. and Joycon drivers. as well likely something to monitor and dynamically rev up and lower the system Fan, and lastly a Sound driver for the Tegra X1.

while Windows 10 ARM offers "x86 Emulation" its mainly for stuff like MS Office etc, it's performance generally is painfully Slow.

Personally I disagree with all the naysayers.

I don't think anybody is saying it's 100% impossible. More like it's a lot more difficult than flashing an ISO image on a USB stick or a microSD card. If it was that easy people would have done it ages ago.

And the OP is using an x64 build. It's obvious he doesn't know what he's doing. I'm not sure how he intends to boot it either. If he's flashing it to a microSD card or USB stick, he's just wasting his time. If he's flashing it to a payload dongle, he's probably just going to break his dongle.

Or perhaps he's using HacDiskMount and trying to use Rufus to flash the ISO directly to the Switch. Of course this will leave him with a brick, and he'd better have a full NAND backup if he wants to recover.

With the right knowledge and drivers, booting Windows 10 ARM on Switch may very well be possible, though Linux and Android are probably much more useful. But based on OP's screenshot, I doubt he has the skills to pull it off, and I'd rather not see him brick his console over it. Leave this sort of stuff for the experts to figure out.

It's not going to work
Windows is for x86 processors and the switch is ARM and you would also need compatible drivers and stuff

Windows has run on ARM for a long time now.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/

It just needs a UEFI and some drivers. It will just take someone deciding to do it who has the ability.

Quite how useful it would be is another matter, but if it saves even a single person from running Linux then it's worth it :D

Windows ARM, sure. It comes pre-installed in it.

Windows RT that comes pre installed is useless.
Windows 10 on ARM is completely different.

So no, a surface rt running windows rt is not the same thing but a bit more useful than a switch running windows 10.
