Gaming Question about updates

I'm about to ask a super stupid noob question so hold on to something because it's really dumb probably.
Lets say I just have the base nsp installed and I wanted a few of the new DLC. Would I have to download and install every individual update inbetween or can I just install the most recent update and then move onto the DLC? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Latest update is sufficient. Also the order of installing updates and DLC don't matter as long as both are installed.

just the new update if you have like 1.01 , 1.02 and 1.03 just install 1.03 and then your dlc
