I bought a slim PS3 a few weeks ago for $60, it has bad HDMI but the AV port works fine, so I just use that and the good 'ol fashioned component cables. I installed HEN on it, and I've been playing a few games, but I've noticed something odd. In games like Call of Duty: World at War, and Castle Crashers, certain sounds will have a crackly static accompanying them. Specifically, the voices in World at War's Nazi Zombies mode, and the explosion of the grenades, but not gunshots, repairing barriers, getting weapons, etc. In Castle Crashers, a few sound effects will sound like this, as well, but most of it's fine.

When playing JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle, Scott Pilgrim VS the World, or Shovel Knight, the issue doesn't come up whatsoever. Any idea on what could be causing this, and how I could fix this?

Sounds like a poor component cable, your tv finding the audio too "hot" or both.

Well, although I'm unsure which it was, once I changed cables and hooked it up to my CRT instead, the problem went away. The sounds that were crackly are just particularly loud, coming through a CRT.
