Attribution is simple. Y'all just want to throw mud to abstract the conversation. Giving credit is a basic premise that holds much of society together. Fighting against that is straight retarded.

I think everyone on here acknowledges and is thankful for the time, effort and skill of all those who have contributed to the switch scene.

I've been following the PC warez scene since the beginning of time, sure there have been dramas thru the years but in the end most groups have just moved on from the drama and even some have worked together to defeat protections.

Well the change has to start somewhere right? Maybe lets stop filling up SX threads with the same shit all the time so they get closed and then people won't have to "defend" them as everyone put's it just cause they call out BS. It happens on both sides. I'm sure there are plenty of TX users who do the same thing in the Atmo threads. I don't really follow them much myself and wouldn't go there just to start shit either.

you will not find many SX users filling Atmos threads with BS. it's nearly all one way in the SX threads by a small number of people who for what ever reason have issues with TX.

TX has done some good. But several million good? If it's a Zero sum game then I would rather see this as a fair technocracy where those most experienced are awarded dividend consistent with their efforts. The atmosphere project has contributed at least 95% of the "heavy lifting" in regards to the under the hood framework that allows everything we do.

That isn't how capitalism works though. Both groups have chosen how much money they want to get paid.
The people behind SX OS want money rather than recognition, atmosphere devs have different priorities.

I don't think you understand the difference between forking open source code, giving credit for that code and stealing code, giving no credit and rebranding multiple open source projects with no crediting.


I'm not saying you can't sit there sucking off TX, for moar fwee gam. But if you're gonna say they didn't steal anything, then hoh boy... You're in for a treat.

It seems that TX stole code. Alright, I get that and I understand the problem. But has anyone of you seen that there is worse stealing / cloning around the globe?
Look at all the fake iPhones that especially older people tend to buy. Or all the R4 clones on the market. Nobody complains about that.

I do not want to say that everyone should agree with that behavior and I do not want to support code stealing in any way. I fully disagree to that behavior too. But nobody on this world should discuss if owner of fake or clone devices are fools or not. This discussion is childish and makes it unable to find any important information in any thread where TX is a topic (even a minor). And to be honest, all this SX OS fanboys are not better in any way.
Just let everyone use whatever they want. There were even Gateway 3DS fans before a few years even it had many disadvantages in comparison to free CFWs.

This "modchip" won`t be a million miles away from the Trinkets we use in OG Switches.

Maybe using a SAMD(doubtful though, as they are SO easy to dump, even via SWD, they will probably use something else with USB host) and pulling a new "strap" high or low, attached to a clock line at boot time, trigger RCM (easy) Drop the line, inject Fusee(or their new variation), done.

Not a million miles away from RGH on the 360.

Not wishing to knock TX - indeed well done to them. However, this could have been done a while ago. But finding someone who is willing to buy a Switch-lite when they have already been there, done that, hacked, got the Tshirt with the OG Switch, is difficult. Can you imagine SciresM laying money out for a Switch lite just for this purpose?

I for one, wouldn`t have bought a Switch lite at all.

Not how such things work It's closer to setting up a toll-booth right in front of a public park and claiming you landscaped the whole thing. "free" is just the cost of usage, it says nothing about ownership or freedom to implement code. "free" is just what you, an end-user, pay to be able to use someone else's finished work.

If you want to implement someone's code in your own work, you're not talking about "free" any more, you're talking about licensing. "open-source" is not synonymous with "do whatever, doesn't matter". Some are fine with just attribution, some require more, some require less. Here's a good primer about the topic:

I am relatively new to the scene (got patched and unpatched unit since last christmas) but TX looks to me like really controversial thing. I have info only from this forum, few subreddits and from my point of view TX is something unethical I don't want to support (people here already mentioned why). So I don't want to hate, TBH if they made it I as end user will only benefit, but video of running CFW is no proof to me. Not saying that its fake but this kind of hype around is only creating advertisement which indicate their money motivation.

My patched unit is waiting for some sweat exploits so CG if its real, but I will rather wait for publicly released working proof.

I don't believe any of their mod chips have ever been free. So it's always been clear the TX is out to make money. We can all agree on that. So that's kinda a moot point. What's the next step? We shouldn't complain because some African kids are starving to death? That's disastrous rhetoric. On top of that, how can you say no one's complaining about fakes? When literally no one likes that. This way of saying things would also imply that people wouldn't be able to be angry about many things, but you know that's not true.

There are still some interesting posts, and it's true that it's ironic to see pirates complaining about theft, but those who make fun of it from the top are ultimately the biggest idiots in this story, it's a question that deserves to be asked anyway, and even though few people here will have as much legitimacy to answer the question as your drunk uncle in the local bar, I find it weird to laugh about it when it doesn't concern them less. In the end, we're in a forum, that's the whole point of talking about stuff.
