So I've decided I want to offer my skills as a programmer to port some games over to the 3DS, a challenge I've never taken up before. What's the process for porting over a game written in C++ with native gamepad support? I have a rough game plan but I'd appreciate some advice. The game I'm planning to port is TES: Morrowind using OpenMW.
-Convert code so it works on 3DS
-Get OpenMW to start.
-Map 3DS buttons to gamepad
-Get Morrowind to start to menu
-Graphics, sound, and resolution fixes
-Optimizations for frame rates and loading times

The 3DS is more powerful than the computer I used to run Morrowind back in 2002, so I'm confident in the 3DS's ability to run the game (at least on an N3DS). I realize this is a rather large undertaking, but I want to at least give it a shot. Any advice would be appreciated.

my suggestion is to try adding features or messing around with an app or game that has its source code available. that will at least give you some idea.

you may also try devkit pro. it contains libraries for a number of systems. I think the 3ds is one of them.

edit: I just found something that might be helpful: LINK REMOVED
Yup! I got this stuff, currently looking through all of the example code.
